@Silentrunning yes mainly up in Scotland. But the rest will get nothing some winters. Down south hardly see anything at all. I live in the West Midlands, today we've had 1 inch of snow. Every 5 or so years it will be very bad and sometimes we won't have any. Sunday will be bad.

Lovely photos of Berry! We have a very cold and bright day. In the end, I went to SummerHill gc again... Guess what? Horticultural haemorrhage!

Apparently, going to be swamped by weather system all the way to Tuesday! Tons of rain.. I hope so.

It was 29 when we got up, and didn't warm up much until noon when it finally reached 40 degrees. No rain, and thankfully no snow. After living in upstate NY for 25 years, "snow" is a four letter word for me, not to be mentioned in polite company.
I'll go out and pick some spinach, and then take a peek at the kittens in their shelter to make sure there are enough soft sheets for everyone to bed down. And before you ask, NO, we do NOT spoil the cats . . . .

I know what you mean! Same happens to me when I smell something in the air or a certain window open (it's been like this the whole day and we've been freezing!)

Very nice, @Sheal. Snow just makes it look so clean and fresh. We have biting wind and apart from that, quite dry.

Were the winds awful? Or you're lucky enough to have a sheltered spot, Sheal?

Clean and fresh @alp until it thaws then it looks a slushy mess, yuck!

We escaped the worst of the wind here even though there was a gale blowing. The very north and the islands took the brunt with gusting up to 90mph.

Various parts of the country have seen snow and I think you'll probably see some next week as it creeps down the country. Get ready to build a snowman! :D

Sheal: I hope the worst of the winds is over with you. By the look of it, we will miss the snow. By the look of it, you can have a microclime in Scotland and a lot of gardens in the Beechgrove Garden looked fantastic.. Some people managed to grow plants from very warm areas of the world. We might have serious rain on Monday morning. I hope the cold snap won't kill my tender plants. That's my major worry.

I've not seen the Beechgrove Garden, I got rid of my TV eight years ago. :)

I hope the cold snap won't kill my tender plants.

I don't bother with finicky (tender) plants, if they can't or won't survive in my garden then they shouldn't be there. Sounds harsh but it's stops the fretting and saves on the pocket. :)

True for Scotland as the weather can really dictate the terms. I thought I would never be able to grow meconopsis and I bought tons of seeds and some kind forumer also sent me tons. I managed to seed the seedlings, but I couldn't really see them grow into proper plants until last year and that was only one or two. In the end, I bought some from an infamous online company and yet they have defied all beliefs and are now doing very well in the most important nursery bed in my garden ..

You can watch Beechgrove on youtube and they are very good programmes.
