We have 23c and it was very hot at 11am. I was sweating following the guide all around the grounds in Waddesdon manor. Shame the present "owner" prefer modern art works .. They don't own the place, but they get to run the place. The place belongs to the National Trust. This way the family don't have to pay death duties and the place is not broken up and sold and the National Trust get to preserve the integrity of the place and we can go there to feast our eyes on the exquisite interiors and enjoy the vast estate ..

@alp 3 days ago we were dying from the heat. The cyclone crept unnoticed. But quickly. Today we dressed warm clothes. But this does not mean that heat will not return.:D

we can go there to feast our eyes on the exquisite interiors and enjoy the vast estate ..

I hope you will not forget to bring your camera with you.:)

Two cameras, but not very good ones, @Larisa

I hope the Texans on the forum could escape CYCLONE HARVEY unscathed! Apparently, it could bring winds 130m/hr .. mama mia!

Keep safe, every one!

@Larisa we have had below par temperature .. for gardening, we really want some decent heat. Can't complain, @BigC is having prolonged rains in Ireland.

Alp, thank you for the good wishes for Texans in the path of Harvey. The storm is now a category 3 hurricane, due to hit the gulf coast tonight with torrential rain, high winds, and damaging storm surge.
We are in central Texas and expecting three days of rain and some wind. A highway near us has been designated as an evacuation route, so we have stocked up on water, sandwich fixings, and I have frozen stews thawing. If necessary, we will put out our "Food and Water, next left" sign by the highway, and provide what we can to those who need it.
Right now, temperatures are in the mid-80's, it's overcast, and we have a mild breeze.

@marlingardener You're so nice and altruistic .. Keep safe and board up your house .. Once, my dad climbed up to the roof top to place wood planks and what nots to weigh down the roof. When we woke up, neighbour's roof had disappeared. We were so lucky .. could have been us...

Nice, marlingardener. Kudos to you.

The hurricane reports are looking pretty scary for Texas right now. Fingers crossed and what's that saying...hope for the best but prepare for the worst!

@marlingardener
I saw in the "News". It looks terrible ... They said that evacuation begins on the coast.
I want to wish everyone all the strength to go through this safely.

Mandatory evacuations for most affected areas is what I read. When they force you to leave your home it's expected to be pretty bad.

Alp, we won't need to board up anything since we aren't in the path of the hurricane. We may get a lot of rain, We may need to put in the elevated floor in the chicken coop (bricks with plywood on top, the feeder moved to the dry area, and a lot of calming talk to the ladies).
Altruism has nothing to do with it--we just can't imagine how these evacuees feel, and if we can make their experience a bit better, we want to do what we can.
