Hi,

Thanks Logan. I was so fed up of the rain and high wind yesterday I decided to get off my backside and do as I wanted in spite of the weather; as I was changing into my workshop clothes Bron said it's pouring down outside so obviously Blackie was waiting for me and his sister Gale was still trying to blow the bungalow away; I had started and come what may the seeds were going to be broadcast. I battled to hold the shed door against the force of Gale whilst I put my wellies on then with shed door secured I went to the top of the mountain; Blackie was having a breather so just Gale trying to blow me over; it was hopeless at first the seeds disappearing in the wind then I thought if you want to play games with me Gale then you can jolly well help me; I went downhill and with my back to the wind tossed a few seeds into the air; WOW this scattered the seeds nicely so I worked across the garden tossing more seeds into the air and I could see where they were landing; with this section new seeded I wandered down to the side garden and repeated it; with luck we'll enjoy two flower meadows this year; I can trim back any excess flowers; the top of the rear garden was laid to grass which was in very poor condition being mostly moss so a couple of years ago I turned the grass under using a spade it being hard graft; I've been over at least five times since using a rotavator so now the soil is wonderful; the soil is actually too good but we'll see what happens; I won't be cutting the grass and the neighbours who've let their millions of dandelions seed into our garden can have meadow flowers in exchange. :)

Showers today but still very windy; I need to wash the car AGAIN.

Kind regards, Colin.

Glad that you sowed your seeds Colin and hope that they'll do well.Your soil should be alright,as long as you haven't put any feed on it. I've got a few Cowslip plants that came from nowhere so i collected some seeds in a tray and they've all come up, got to find somewhere to put them.

Yes showers again for us, going to prick out my marigold seedlings.

Hi,

Blackie's putting a splash of rain down again which is quite normal; I note Fenay Beck is mentioned in the flood warnings; this beck is well down below us in the valley bottom so we won't be troubled but it's interesting watching water pass us on the way to the beck.

If we suffer a cloudburst then I've installed flood defences diverting the water to each side of the bungalow where it discharges harmlessly from us; we often see our 5' wide pathway converted into a stream; down the lane it usually pops manhole covers giving huge water fountains that are good for washing under cars as they drive over. We have a flight of steps up into the rear garden and it's very pretty when these are turned into a cascade; it's been terrible here for days with heavy rain and high gusts of wind. We'd much rather live up here exposed to severe weather than down in the valley bottom with risk of flooding.

Kind regards, Colin.

Not to bad a day here. Supposed to get up to 53F (11c) and mostly sunny. Hopefully more of the snow will disappear.
