Those religious people come around here a lot, when they used to ring the bell, i wouldn't answer. Now they know not to come because we've both told them that we're not interested.
A few years ago i put my foot in it and asked a neaghbour up the road if they had a nice Christmas not knowing that they were one. They don't celebrate it.

Hi,

Thanks alp & Logan. Bron and I like to treat visitors to our home with dignity and respect as we should like to be treated when we visit places; however we now receive so many unwelcome visitors it's really starting to annoy and all have one thing in common; it's what we can DO FOR THEM.

I'm not in any way whatsoever religious but we do have two very good friends who are Jehovah Witnesses; these being lovely people but we never discuss religion; I visit our local Aldi store twice weekly and have become friendly with a number of staff; one guy believes the world is FLAT and says there are a growing group of people on the Internet sharing the same belief.

The office chair I bought on Sunday with next day delivery being Tuesday still hasn't arrived so now into three days unable to leave home because as soon as I leave the street it's sure to arrive; one day I'll get out of bed and enjoy a day without constant interruptions or silly problems but then I can dream on.

Back to the plot though; it's another wet black hole here; I've just been outside and it doesn't feel cold; lots more oak leaves to sweep up so I'd better get off my backside before another day slips by.

Kind regards, Colin.

I am not rude to them. I just wouldn't open the door if they looked like those who would torment me with their sales techniques once they were allowed in. (I had 2 salespersons from a Zen**** double glazed company staying in my house from 1 to 5pm. Boy, never again!) If they can't see me checking through the lace curtain, they will think there's nobody home! They leave with their dignity intact. Sometimes, you get people phoning up from abroad trying to scam up, even being rude will not rebuff them. I had an American phoning me about some dud shares I had bought years ago, I politely told him that I was not interested. He still called me after 2 minutes. I wish someone had consideration for my well-being. Now, when I got phone calls like that, I would tell them to hold on the line and I would get the Mrs ??? for him/her, then I just left the phone on for a while and put it back later. I used to think this practice very nasty. But to think you get a phone call every day at 6pm with the caller intending to scam you, that's a light punishment I could dish out. Incidentally, I call out Mrs .?? aloud as if she were upstairs. Sometimes I was so tired that I would tell the caller to get a decent and proper job!

Hi,

Nice one alp; I understand your feelings. We seldom suffer unwanted phone calls because years ago I found a website for call blocking and followed the instructions so now we might just receive two of these calls a year; I know straight away it's an unwanted call because when I pick up the receiver there is a delay. I wish our bungalow was a Klingon bird of prey (Startrek) then I could cloak it and disappear from view?

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=k...QKHfPRAAgQ9QEwAXoECAMQBg#imgrc=GNJlr8wnBKW0_M:

I suffer permanent bad luck; a few weeks ago just buying an office chair for Bron covered three days of hassle until I finally gave in and bought through eBay which actually then worked well with next day delivery. I now would like a new office chair and as the one Bron now has is a nice one I decided to save lots of hassle so on Sunday placed my order and paid immediately through eBay to the same seller; the chair to arrive Tuesday? Well it's now three days into my bad luck and still no chair; it became complicated but the seller has been brilliant; he phoned last night saying he was looking into it and phoned as promised this morning still unable to say what went wrong but that a chair would definitely be delivered tomorrow morning. I told Bron but then Bron reminded me we would be out tomorrow so I phoned back with an apology arranging delivery for Monday?

I've just returned from the post office and no sooner sat down the phone rang; a very nice young lady was confirming the chair would be delivered tomorrow morning? I lose the will to live.

Back on topic though what a year its been this year. I started before last Christmas planting in the rear garden which is very exposed being on a steep valley side; Bron generously bought me a brand new rotavator for Christmas but when I tried to use it the ground was too wet and it kept jamming with grass sods and roots; I ended up digging the lot over by spade; anyway I did eventually use the rotavator and it was very hard work but as the year progressed I went over the ground using the rotavator five times and now the roots and assorted rubble are removed the soil is just wonderful and when I walk upon it I sink right in. The rotavator became easier to use with practice and as the soil started to break up.

It's been incredibly rare but this year we enjoyed a decent summer and both Blackie my big black constant cloud and his sister Gale took a long holiday resulting in drought; the garden being so steep I tried using the hose to water all the new plants but the water wanted to visit the bottom of the valley; I carried up lots of big watering cans to spot water but it was hopeless; lots of the plants died; as I say I suffer bad luck; the only year in our 31 years here when I go to town spending a lot of money on plants and shrubs etc Blackie deserts me at the only time he would be welcome. GRRRRRRRRR.

As I type the rain is lashing down and it's a black hole; Gale is trying to remove the bungalow from the valley side; now the plants and shrubs are dead the weather reverts back to its usual bad self.

After dinner I intend to head towards the workshop; assuming I succeed and make a start how long before I'm interrupted again? Do I feel sorry for myself; OF COURSE I DO. :)

Kind regards, Colin.

They're very polite and i speak to them on my walks. Sometimes they'll ask me if i wanted a liflet but i say no very politely,
they understand and don't push it.

Whereas Tuesday morning was 25F /4C, This morning is 60f and we are faced with 1 in 3 chances of Tornado especially at night. I hate the night storms. Its like having a newborn in the house. No sleep.

Thank goodness for modern weather technology. The weather service can now detect a possible tornado on radar and send out a warning to alert people who would otherwise be dead in bed. Even though the warning may only give you a minute or two, that can be enough time to reach a storm cellar. Everyone should have a weather alert radio with battery backup. I don’t worry too much about the weather as long as Jim Cantore isn’t in the neighborhood. :)

@alp Jim Cantore is the lead meteorologist on The Weather Channel. Every time we have a major storm here in the U.S. you see Jim Cantore standing out in the middle of it with a microphone in his hand. The joke is that he causes storms because every time he goes somewhere they have a bad storm.

Stay away from all humans, Jim Cantore! You're the last person we want to see!

There was another fellow they made jokes about. Mike Bettis I believe was his name. Suspicion about a rash of pregnancies over some years on the weather chan. My wife was keeping score I think.
:LOL::LOL:! Need to google his look and I don't think one can see his prowess, as the fiery Judge Judy says!
