Remember that body of water! So lovely. Anybody eating the mulberry? I have only been there once! The journey is so long. Have you been to sheffield Park, Nymans? You must go there! Such beautiful places.

No never been to Sheffield Park, Nymans.:(

Yes the river is quite beautiful, so tranquil there.....we often just go to enjoy the river, it's only a 10 minute drive away.

10 minutes' drive???? For me, it's an hour and 10 minutes and more! Just think about the petrol money. Now, the petrol money is even more expensive. The legitimate way to relieve us of my money! Son and I have come to the conclusion that we would reduce the number of trips to my favorite gc as it is a bit out of the way. I need to do an audit as the way it goes is unsustainable. You must go to Sheffield Park and Nymans on the same day! When it's 24c Monday or Tuesday, do go along! You will love it. Take your good camera.. They are open all year round for a reason!

Must say that the house is not one of my favourite NT properties , but the river, walled gardens and roses are fabulous.

Gee! What lovely flowers! The last one was that of Cornus Kousa! I bought some seeds and they came to nothing. Now I can buy a £2 plant with a 3L pot .. I didn't buy it. I could kill myself right NOW! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I won't buy any more roses unless they are thornless. Hate the idea of going round them whilst weeding to be pricked! Bad enough having been kissed by mossies which have left me with loads of very itchy warts.:cry::cry: So itchy that I used my nail to cut up the warts to ease the itch ... Probably trouble with old age.

Glorious roses! I can actually smell them. Believe you me! I love scented roses and now I bought 2 with good fragrance and the scents are just out of this world. I put it on the left side of the patio door instead of the right as I realised the foul air is blowing from the left. Now I could smell the perfume of Remember me (from pink to white) and Claire Marshall

Also known as 'Harunite', Rosa 'Claire Marshall' is a repeat-flowering, bushy floribunda shrub rose with dark green foliage that shows good tolerance to ...

Feel very sorry for Harunite as the flowers are so top heavy that they had disappeared into the foliage. The scents from these two are heavenly. I love the fragrance of roses and indeed all flowers. Thank you for sharing! Wonder if I could freegle for some cuttings! LOL!

I had to fish the other two flowers out as the blooms are so heavy! The pink one is Remember Me!

You're so lucky to live so near the place!

PS: Love those old walls - so full of character!

A rose with a gorgeous fragrance is out of this world. My mum use to have loads of them in their previous house ( my early childhood home ) I can recall the fantastic scent in the air as I walked up the path. Also remember making Mum some ' perfume' from rose petals and water !!:ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

Thorns certainly cause a lot of damage and pain, I always take care to avoid them when weeding but can guarantee that I end up scratched and bleeding!:( We have a couple of thornless ones, much prefer them:)(y)
Yours look beautiful @alp :)

When I saw the school kids going to the Penguin enclosure, I avoided going there. But you know what, these kids really made my day in the Birds' show! Very good and the atmosphere was made fastastic by the kids! Hurrah, kids!

Parrots and grey parrots featured, but it was impossible to snap them. They had lovely red underside. A most enjoyable show. I think all the kids loved them.
