Hi,

What a truly sad story Upsy. Unfortunately it's all too common these days; I've seen reports in our local rag where a low life has committed 297 offences and is in court again where he is given another chance; the police must despair when this happens.

Over 40 years ago before I met Bron I was walking home in Dewsbury at night when I was attacked by two big guys; one ended up unconscious with a shattered jaw the other immediately backed off and sat on the church wall; I was taken into Dewsbury police station suspected of GBH but fortunately I had witnesses who saw everything and it was self defence; this saved a court case and I bet the two have never picked on anyone else since. I'm very quiet and peaceful but I'll not be pushed around.

No chance though of either Bron or I watching any soaps they are simply too depressing; it would suit us to be on a desert island just the two of us away from the rest of the world.

Kind regards, Colin.

I think many would share your sentiments @Colin about having an idyllic life on a desert island.....but we must stand up and try to put a stop to these horrendous crimes.
Then we will all be able to live a tranquil life:)(y).........maybe.

Hi,

Thanks Upsy. :)(y)

Why do the public have to stand up to stop these horrendous crimes as you say Upsy; what a shame our country is such a soft touch for criminals; we have laws and law enforcement that is supposed to look after us and ensure we all play fairly but we are constantly badly let down.

Our best friends the husband is a retired senior magistrate of over twenty years and he was often highly frustrated wanting to put low life where they belong but the law and silly regulations prevented him making the punishment fit the crime. Until suitable punishment is dished out things will surely become even worse than they are now. Kids who commit crimes know these days little can be done to them and their identity is not made known to protect them but what about say one of their victims one who also is under age but has their personal details exposed to the world and the kid committing the crime has no end of charities and do gooders looking after him/her whilst victims are ignored.

My parents gave me a good hiding if I was naughty teaching me first hand how to behave and conduct myself; this is now banned; school teachers and headmasters have their hands tied whilst kids appear to be in charge; this too is different to when I was a kid over 60 years ago; we were in trouble at home and in trouble at school if we didn't behave; I went straight down a deep coal mine at the age of 15 when I left school and I've had a life of very hard knocks but I don't break the law; I don't condone excess physical violence to a child but a good slap when needed worked wonders in my day but then I'm now a dinosaur out of touch with reality these days when anything goes.

I abide by the law but I will defend ourselves and our property against low life if pushed hard enough; Bron and I are retired and want to live in peace and be left alone; we try to avoid watching nothing but bad news; we want some happiness in our lives not misery.

We're all different and enjoy different things; I don't take on board all the world's problems it's just not worth it; I've already washed and dried the car and checked the tyres; I've also been into the workshop to apply sanding sealer to a finial then I glued the finial into a box lid; once the glue dries I'll finish the finial and lid then turn the box base today; I never cause any trouble or problems as I say I just want to be left in peace to enjoy my (our) hard earned retirement.

Right I'm off to the workshop where I can abuse some timber. :D

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip Logan; we seldom watch normal TV but we'll have a look at this and if the adverts start to annoy we'll revert back to watching a YouTube movie. (y):)

Kind regards, Colin.

Not for me, but thanks for flagging it up.

I can't help remembering this photo someone posted after George had run into a shopfront in his car.

I watched the 2011 film "Moneyball" last night I'd recorded on Dave, I don't know if it'll be repeated. But I found it very good.
It's a drama about the Oakland A's general manager and his baseball management philosophy based on his life.

In it Kerris Dorsey at the age of thirteen has a small part, her "best bit" is this scene in a music shop where her father, who divorced from her mother, takes her to buy a new guitar. She sings this "cover."
She would appear not to just be another," little girl, with a little voice, singing a little song" as she's been in a hell of a lot of films. But I was impressed. Although it had absolutely nothing to do with the plot.

Here's the full song.

And here's the original "little girl, with a little voice, singing a little song."

I'm not knocking it, I liked both, but this type of song was very popular ten years or more ago.
