Thanks, it is a nice little spot. Nothing blooming yet though.
The garden got it's start by Calgary's first parks superintendent. A fella from England who took a bare hillside and started collecting rocks and plants to stabilize the hill. He died just after retirement in the early 1940s and the city let it go unattended until 2006 when it was brought back to how it looked back in the day.

My last summers visit to Union and the rock garden.

@johnny canoe I might be wrong: the first cemetery might be for the natives whilst the last one might for the last wars..by the British or even for the British.. Back home, I always loved to go to the Stanley cemetery for the fallen and I would love the quiet, calm and solitude of the place. I deliberately sought out the place.. The headstones of the last one look exactly like those found in Stanley cemetery... I saw young people British, and even Canadian soldier .. details engraved in those simple and uniform headstones.

Nice to see the sweeping conifer next to the path and treasure this moment, soon the whole world will be swamped by people.. I mean it's not often that one can take pictures without a single soul in them.

Morning all, grey but so far dry here too. We desperately need some rain....... It's scary when a water butt is drained, thankfully we have 4 more:)

Just catching Gardener's World on iPlayer.

What is everyone up to today?

Have a good day whatever your plans are x

The grass? Looks a little like luzula hohe tatra Tetters. At first I thought it was millium effusum, bowles golden grass . ;)

Thanks, it's clouding over now, not very warm. We joke about me putting my hat on or not. But i didn't this morning always later on Saturday. I said no i won't have it on, it's spring and sunny. The only thing, get a lot bits off the trees and sticks to my shoes. But at least we don't have to do any watering. Yesterday morning Finished potting on cosmos. Was going to do some in afternoon, but OH said he was cold from me going in and out of the garage, so i didn't.Sorry you didn't get any rain.:cry::cry::cry:

@Verdun , have looked again at the grass , and think you may have been right first time. It's showing more flower now, a bit pale for the Luzula, so I m thinking Bowles G G. :)
