I think I might have to work something out like this - a rota .. which day to have what. Where I live, competition is strong as there are two fish and chips shops and one pub and there is now a all day brunch cafe which also does dinner. So nobody will give us stale fish.

WOW! puts me in mind of my dear old Grandma...baking puds and cakes for all the family at Christmas...She used to put silver sixpence's inside..(I suppose that's frowned upon in today's terms)...But Yes just loving your baking skills @Logan an artform that is truly dying out amongst the young...I wish I'd payed more attention at the time :)

Ah, the sixpence. I hid it one year in our shop-bought pudding. I went to all the trouble of buying cognac and pouring it over the cake and set a light to it. My son loved the noise made by the methane ..

Thank you for the suggestion, @Logan . We watched a youtube video and the man suggested white spirit and tons of tissue papers. The smells of the paint and white spirit overcame his eyes.

It's getting cold now. I am freezing and too late for a hot cuppa!

@alp don't use soapy water it doesn't work. Using the white spirit is best.

I never make anything like that. Yesterday, I made a delicious pork joint with potatoes. That was a record for me. Today, we went to Wetherspoon (for me, first time in 10 years at least) because of the VAT reduction (my son kept reminding me of that - it gave me earache!) However, I must say VAT is a bit steep in this country. It was OK. I prefer the fish batter up the road and Nando chicken ..
@alp you should make your own, it's healthier and cheeper. Watch Jamie Oliver on Ch 4. On Monday. Most of the time it only takes 15mins with only 5 ingredients. It would probably suite you because you don't have a fixed menu.

I will watch that, @Logan I miss the cookery class where all the ingredients were there for me, ready steady cook. But now old habits die hard and I just cook whatever's in the fridge. No longer the desire to make a balanced diet. I must say I have tons of apples, blueberries and some oranges in the fridge and some decent bananas.. So I have learned something from the cookery class.

If you live near Belfast, heavens will still be pouring down, but west of it, you will have a bit of respite. Move over here, we'd LOVE to have you .. @BigC Haha!

I remember a Thomas Hardy's poem on rain... factual just POURING DOWN, POURING DOWN .. How true in your situation..

Haha! No, not in the fridge. I bought them for the worms, but they were tooooo good, so enough up for us. I was tempted by the bruised one yesterday, but promised myself not to spend money on them for the worms, but get free coffee grinds and egg shells instead. I even have my mixer/grinder specially for that purpose. But it doesn't grind the eggshell fine, so not very good. I bought several coffee grinders but they couldn't handle the heat generated by grinding the egg shells, so I had to bin James Martin .. as it generated terrible smell as if something were burning with the motor. Now, I'm off to defrost the fridge and get stuff ready for watch tomorrow.

Come back and it was one of the neatest jobs I have ever done. No spillage on the floor! Well chuffed.
