Polish rooster died yesterday. He hadn't been well and I segregated him from the rest and he even refused mealworms. Anyway, RIP, Ebony!
Remember that son was accused of flytipping by tatto pete? We confronted him last week and I said to him that he saw nothing as we NEVER flytip in that place and wait till someone did the same to his grand son. He came around later to apologise and said he would write to the committee to say sorry. Yesterday, saw the committee chairman and he said to me he did apologise, saying that it was a misunderstanding. The horrible thing was that this ex-druggie who started the trouble was a little bully. After he spread the rumour, he planted a metal rod right next to my plot as if signally beyond this point, it was his land. I'm not being funny. He has 3 half plots and I have one half plot. He has a shed, an arbor, and a greenhouse, a BBQ gadget, a set of metal garden table and chairs. He has moved in, more or less!
A month ago, we turned up first time to work the plot. He sat facing us for more than 45 minutes, sunning himself and probably intimidating us. Then, a small watering can appeared in the path between my plot and the water source, which was a source of hazard. Last week, after apologising to us, he put an empty wheelbarrow on the same spot! He was working in another plot north of his main plot with the wheelbarrow, just being a nuisance. The chairman said I could swap plots as there were quite a few others who didn't get along well with his neighbours. I said no. Just the thought of moving all the irises made me faint. Also, I have just established an asparagus plot.
On a happier note: Paul asked me if I had planted his comfrey. So he did give them to me, but I probably did go to the allotment and it was lost. He then gave me some lovely tomato plants. He actually used black plastic bags which I saw in the Australian gardening programmes. Very impressed. Last year, he gave me a lot of surplus toms as well. Nice man!
The amount of Indian Chief I have seen flowering was staggering. It was embarrassing. The allotment plot is full of bugs and the flowers all looked punctured with holes. The kale was no good as the slugs had a go first.
A deep blue iris
So confused about the names of these irises. I was expecting more different irises. But so far, only about 4 new ones in the allotment.
Last night I did gardening from 6 to 8pm at home as well as the light was blinding and it was definitely hot. Son went with ex to my ex's house by the seaside. Very peaceful here.
Wish I had bought some nematodes earlier.
