He wants the heating on :cold:??.Have to say we have ours on in certain rooms, my joints just cease up when I get really cold:coldfeet:.

Make sure you wear thick thermal socks and wear a scarf. They make a lot of difference!

After the Indian summer, he can enjoy his warmth!

Evening , looks like you've been busy upsy (y)

I quite like Japanese garden but can't understand what you mean about no flowers and the raked stones seem a bit silly to me, they do have a fondness of flowering cherries though, I like how they train plants and how they use water it always looks so natural and of course the japanese acers.

Morning all :D
Still a bit dark out but we are in for a gorgeously sunny day

Yesterday I finished sorting out another border in readiness for the bulbs to go in. Only have 4 more to do, thankfully it's getting to an easier task to do as the summer bedding is gradually dying back now...so no more hard decisions to make.:ROFLMAO:

Have been digging up the Geraniums as I work my way along the borders, despite some still having a lot of buds. All are repotted and and placed in the coldframe to overwinter.Wallflowers and Winter Pansies are put in their vacated space(y)

Have a great day!:)(y)

Good morning to all - It was Japanese gardening experts who said they didn't rely on the colours or flowers in their design and the gardens Monty showed are mainly Japanese garden with tons of rooms with different raked shingles. Yes, the Japanese are big on their annual Hanami. Each to his/her own. Found the bit in which Monty said the tea was awful very funny. It's amazing how much significance the Japanese attribute to their Chado and all looked governed by rules and rituals.

I have 4 wallflowers self seeding in a pot. I have to reduce the number of pots and I should have removed them and sent them to enjoy the sun in the front. Should do better.

Now I know where all my perlite has gone.

I have been tidying up and actively reducing the number of pots and had and will still have a titanic struggle with this terracotta pot.

This is the 2nd line I have seen so many lines tangled together. The first time on my face. This is a real spaghetti junction and presented such a struggle that I came in to have lunch!

Oh dear:eek: looks like hard work there @alp.

The next border that want to work on now has shade all morning so I have been digging up the Pelargoniums and repotting them for winter storage. The border is now in full sun, so off I must go :D(y)

@DM if you are having 26c, can you still grow anything now?
There are a lot of plants that will not do well until it drops below 27C. Peas like warm feet to start but can easily handle frost and firm freezes overnight. Spinach does not like that much heat. Our summer actually stops growth in a large way because it gets so hot. Our winters though..I do not believe we even had frost until near Christmas last year and Mid to End of January is our coldest time, about a month past Winter Solstice. So there is roughly 90 days left but the catch is the sun moves very low in the sky and shadows grow larger for a very significant loss of light which is actually the major effect.

Wow! Bliss living in Alabama then. We could be hit by frost in October or November. I'm amazed how well my dahlias are doing. Have you tried Chinese leaves. Beautiful subtle flavour. For us, the night temperature can be very cruel. Haven't seen your smoker in action. We are roasting pork and bird at the same time. But never so exciting like yours.
