Spotted in the garden ......................first Velvet Shank Mushrooms, These are often used in Chinese Cooking, there waxy Coating helps to protect them from frost. They are poping up on lots of my Loggery stumps around my garden right now ..........Second Photo is Tremella Mesenterica ( Yellow Brain Fungus ) ..........Not Good to Eat but a looker;)

Cool Ive Not Tried Velvet Shanks yet But I do Plan too Soon. I think I may of over looked them for far to long as an edible So I've added it to my must do wild foods to try next;)

They take a while to cook, only eat the caps as the stipes are too tough :)

What the heck is a Robin's pincushion then :unsure:

A Robin's pincushion is a terrible thing, everytime a Robin eats an aphid off a rosebush, he has to leave a pin to keep the fairies happy. Sometimes so many of them build up it causes a growth on the rosebush that makes the branch sag...

Or did I dream that bit???

Think it might be an insect gall :giggle:

We are having a visitor from the north this week-the POLAR VORTEX.

current wind chill is -15.

Needless to say it's all inside stuff right now, just finished reworking this old chest that used to sit in grandad's garage.

found some cool hardware online, added some feet, and did a distressed finish using the leftover paint from the poolhouse build.
