Shocking! Let's hope no rogue nations are in the process of making these nasties!

Biological warfare! Bubbles containing trapped bacteria act as tiny 'microbial grenades' that launch germs into the air at up to 30 feet a second

  • These tiny natural explosives had the power to launch microorganisms
  • Scientists estimate a single droplet can carry thousands of microorganisms
  • Bubble covered in bacteria floating on the water also lasts ten times longer

The rise of 'blackfishing': Twitter users furiously call out white influencers who they claim are 'posing' as biracial women in order to gain more followers
  • 'Blackfishing' is a term coined to describe when white women pose as biracial
  • The idea took off on social media last week after a white influencer, Emma Hallberg, was accused of darkening her skin to look biracial
  • The Swedish model, 19, appears to have a deep tan, full lips and curly hair
  • But users claim she purposefully tans her skin and waves her hair to look biracial

Here in Redditch Worcestershire, we can recycle any colour plastic containers, bottles, margerine and butter containers, but not black. t Tin cans, paper and cardboard, can't put the tops of bottles in because made of different plastic and usually can't be used. That's in the green bin.
At the supermarket, carrier bags, with them can put plastic bags that say on them can recycle.

Some bags are made of film plastic and sometimes can't be used.

Supermarkets used to give 5p if we re-used carrier bags, but they've stopped the bags altogether. Got bags that are more hardwaring and can be used over and over again.

Morrisons have changed to paper bags for the loose fruit and veg.
I re-use the flimsy bags as often as i can.

But you've got to look at the developing countries and see what they're doing. I think that's where the plastic is coming and from ocean liners and ships.:)

Haven't been to Morrisons for a long time as the flowers have exhausted their varieties. Also, the place is a bit down and out. Mind you, I have never been a snob and will never be! (LOL! Perhaps I might have betrayed a bit. Why would I want to stock of proscuitto? ) but the place used to reek of dead meat, especially near the meat section. But boy, how I like to see members of staff using mallet to correctly slice the whole salmon. An art form. There used to be a junkie accosting customers for spare cash. Any way, the place has cleaned up on both sides, but I haven't been for a while. There is an Iceland Christmas advert which publicise against the use of palm oil. But because the lobbyists have money and access to parliament members, it is being banned. It's like we are being stopped to offend certain nations who trade big with our arm deals. I think recycling is good, and the awareness it promotes should make us better environmentalists!

Now, where am I going to dispose of the plastic leaking water butt given to us??? LOL! Expediency and money reign supreme! I am but a hypocrite!

Does anybody remember when the plastic bags came and they were considered green compared to the paper bags? How vain we were!

The silent killer in our homes: Wood-burning stoves emit six times as much pollution as a diesel truck... and they're ruining your health even if you don’t own one
  • Wood-burning stove may be doing the British atmosphere more harm than good
  • Smoke they produce is almost invisible, particularly when compared with smogs
  • Scientists measuring air have proven that wood-burning is not a thing of the past

Tell it to those grew up with it and those who want to save money. Every winter and a few days ago, I have had to endure foul smokes from burners in this area. I often wondered if they burnt plastic or their smelly shoes. It really shouldn't be allowed.

How homely it looks. I guess if people burn properly dried up logs and clean fuel, this practice should be allowed. After all, a lot of people used to grow up with the thing. I had a burner before and my son who was a baby then coughed and coughed. If people live far away and on a big piece of land, I guess it should be OK! After all, there are other kinds of foul air!

Wood burning needs secondary combustion. They call it afterburn. This is where the wood gas emitted is reburned, and it requires another source of oxygen higher in the exhaust. Since woodgas is flammable, it is also a great way to clean the air while recovering additional heat energy. Short story- modern woodstoves with secondary air are better.

I think this could be comparable to stoves approved by the relevant government department in the UK. I used to have one like that and the top chamber had been filled up with soot, which I only found out when a man dismantled the whole thing for me. We didn't even know how to maintain it. The assumption is that the air around your house is clean and in some cases, the air outside could be 10 times worse!

Have homes around here that have wood burners and the air does smell outside. It's worse for the environment to burn wood.

We don't have them, our house wasn't built like that, don't have a chimney.:)

So, Logan, since your absence, you've become expert in paper or plastic recycling:LOL:;)?! Lol! For me, I am no expert:LOL:, but if I were to choose between natural and man-made materials, I myself would go for paper or any product made by simpler and less energy-involved process. However, for materials climbing the mountains, skiing, or specialist activities, my opinion might differ.

I've been an expert long before that.;) lol,.
Where have all the trees got come from and if all the fruit and veg are loose they won't stay so fresh in the shops, that will make more waste.

Some people say change milk cartons back to glass bottles. They would be heavier, break easier.:) unless go back to having milk delivered, :LOL:which is more expensive.:)

Your first sentence just makes me chuckle. 2nd I don't understand. 3rd I agree. The lovely sunshine makes my heart sing, on the top of the chuckle! Good one, Logan! But don't presume for one moment you're an expert! LOL!
