Well we have other things to sell like Worms, Eggs, Embroidery Work.

Posted lots of stuff on that Facebook Market place. no real takers. Sold a set of beer glasses that had Miller Light on it, only so far. its been a few months. Our main thing is selling the car parts to the C2, 1964 corvette. Did sell some a few years ago when I met up with a builder in Vermont, but still some more to sell.

Did a lot today.
The blossom on this pergola has all gone.

P1010902.JPG

It was all stuck to the patio by the rain a couple of days ago, so it needed a stiff brushing before I could pick it up with my garden vac.

This is a mixture of blue and white, but the blue is nearly finished,

P1010901.JPG

I've moved the rose pots out more towards the centre of the patio, so I can get around them with my vac. There will be a lot of blossom coming down over the following weeks.

I did "edges" today. the lawn grass tries to creep over the brick borders. So every coupler of years I use a knife to cut a half inch gap between the lawn and the bricks.
The bits I remove have roots, so I can use this grass for any patches to unrepaired "squirrel pitch marks" in the lawn.

These are three rhodos, I bought in small pots from Aldi three years ago, they were very cheap. The filled a hole where an azalea had died.

I'll be dead-heading rhodos next week. How time flies!

I had to open the ventilation in the tea-house today, it's getting that warm in there.
My two jukeboxes don't like it when it's cold or hot.

There's two vent panels, in the bottom of the back wall, that I cover during the cold months.

The "box lid" top of the building gets one end lifted up and the vent put in.

It's easier to see from inside.
It's just two halves of a recycled dishwasher cutlery basket and a bit of three by two.
After all, it's just a glorified shed.

I leave a door open all day in the hot weather to stop it getting warm in there.
But I couldn't do that when we had the six fox cubs living under it, five years ago? As they'd be in there with their muddy paws. But it came to a point when I needed more ventilation, so I put this fan in and had it on a timer.

That did the job, I was quite pleased with that.

But "the little sods" left home the following week!

Potted on and planted out, pretty satisfied we will have tomatoes and aubergines even if I break a leg now, and the Japanese onions are coming on, the garlic is starting to lose its green and the broad beans are in full flower. Earthed upspuds a bit more, they are looking good, watered in the greenhouses and the strawberries in buckets, we are getting the first few berries. All but finished weeding a double row of strawberries, a little bit at the end to do and then I can cover them against birds. Swept and tidied, broke up a lot of wood to go in the bottom of HK pots, did stuff.

I've been that busy lately, I've hardly had time to care for, or appreciate our garden, as I've been visiting my wife twice a day who has been in hospital with osteoporosis for five weeks.

But I've had a look around this morning, before the final survey by a firm who will be installing a stairlift for her when she returns, whenever that may be.
I've been taking photos in to her as she's been missing the garden when it's been at its best.

Anyway..

Our Sambucas is doing well in its centre bed, as it does each year. I prune it towards the end of the year so it doesn't get too big.

The surrounding azaleas have long finished blooming.

P1010907.JPG

This acer has already had "one haircut" as it was touching one of the tree azaleas in pots. It'll get more during the year.

I've re-secured the bamboo at the bottom of the garden. There are lateral wires at three levels across its length to stop it flopping. We like it as from any area near the house it looks like a forest, despite the roots not being further forward than nine inches from the back fence.

The canopy is really thick.

Clematis are doing well, but the planting in front of those on the side fence, hide some.

Here's one behind our big tortoise shell rhodo, which is just starting to come out. It's always the last to flower.

Sorry to hear about the wife, Sean, slightly concerned you didn't finish the post and are on your own, don't go climbing any ladders. If you take in fruit for her oranges, apricots and almonds are all high in calcium, one of my early vasculitis treatments resulted in osteoporosis. Hope life normalises for you soon.

Replanted some Tomatoes for a guy.

Mixed up some soil.

Broke down some cardboard for my garden.

Off subject but I have some cardboard cut up used for shipping. I thought great won't have to cut so much for the Worms. They don't like it. Dangest thing I ever seen.

Some recycled cardboard has a lot of other stuff in it, like plastic, to get it holding together better.

I got it mowed, all of it. 2 plus acres of assorted weeds , grass and voluntary hedge. Getting so bumpy that it's hard on me and the mower.
I've got moles , voles and dillers galore. And a dog that thinks she can dig them all up! I believe she thinks she's doing me a favor, bless her little pea pickin' heart. :ROFLMAO: She needs to go chase a rabbit.

The cardboard of today has too many additives and it tends to smother the worms. Plastic is embedded to make it more impervious,

Repotted Begonias,potted Wondering Jew.

Took care of Chickens. Went by checked plants they were trying to sell. They need water so I watered them. I was short with my wife and told her I was sorry but seeing the plants that way I get excited.

We have the bottom valley garden, which is designed by husband. Truly not the way I would do it for a few reasons, mainly can't just use the riding lawn mower in between the beds to make life easier. So I tell him, its all his. Anyway , few years ago there were these Weeds, that started in "his" garden, I think they call them Hogweed. Anyway, told him, you got to pull them or they go nuts. Did he listen, did he. NOPE. now they have spread a lot. So he's down there pulling them. But I should not help, but I do, so I will offer maybe an hour of my time pulling a section there. SMH

Check what they are, if it is hogweed it can cause very nasty reactions, use a bit more care and protection than just gloves.
