Emptied a lot of pots from the greenhouse that had peppers in, peppers went on the compost heap and the earth on the rhubarb. Extended a path so it went right across the new bed, I'd stopped short and realised it was an error.
Planted something out, they were labelled 'kale' but I know what kale looks like and they were not that. I think they might be Durham early cabbage. A brassica of some sort.
Lifted the not very amazing celeriac and a few days worth of carrots.
Tidied up the wood store and filled a few buckets with the stuff to burn first,
Sorted out a few bits suitable thickness for chainsaw, and a couple of heavy logs to split.
Sorted through an old compost heap of hedge cuttings, taking out the sticks with the riddle, then spread it.
Sure I did some other stuff between showers, but I can't put my finger on it, I was quite busy though.

Took down the first row of runner beans and put the bamboos in the greenhouse roof. Otherwise I mostly sorted out firewood and split some down to a size the chainsaw could handle.

One last harvest of organic materials using the lawn tractor.
I have to admit the leaves and some green looks really good.

The main season for the black soldier flies is winding down and this is the two year mark of filling that tote so it will be processed next summer when It can be spread and dried.

I have a second tote and it has been filled to the top with the mulched leaves and whatnot.
That will be the materials that will decompose under the waste products of BSF and the other biological actors.

That is it until come spring for outdoor growing.
Got trimming a Mulberry and am being asked to save some Rose bushes so clones? Got to look into that.

Enjoy your Season!

Shifted a few leaves from this in the front garden.

Half-filled the green bin again.

They were still falling as I was clearing them.

Managed to step on the bag of my Grisley garden vac. as I was carrying it round to the front to finish off the job. It pulled off the securing strap on the bottom of the bag, leaving a small hole. So wasn't able to use it and it was starting to rain. Had to take a needle and thread to it, it's OK now.

Still a lot of leaves to come down.

We got a trailer load of logs dropped on the front drive this morning, picking them up, barrowing them round, and stacking them in the log store felt like a day's work. David, whose business it is and who delivered them, used to go to school with our daughter, so we got to catch up on all the local gossip, he delivers to quite a few people we know.

Repotted and seen some Gnats so sprayed everything.

Seen two Geraniums that something had been eating on. Couldn't see anything so just give them a trimming.

Oh my Wheat is coming up.

That feels like an over reaction to me. Gnats are usually the adult form of something that eats wet compost and don't damage the plants. If they annoy you they can be controlled by adding a little household hydrogen peroxide to the water you are watering with, not the strong commercial stuff.

I considered that but used Mosquito Bits in a spray.

I know some was over watered, and I'm letting them dry.

My Son put some of his pants in there but he never sees a problem.

Last time I planted potatoes in Nov I dug up 28 lbs of new potatoes from 25 plants in April. Seed potatoes need to be cover with enough soil so they can not freeze in winter. I cover my seed potatoes with 12" of soil. There is no above ground plant all winter. I live in TN zone 7. Today I planted 32 seed potatoes.
