I hadn't intended to do anything today as I had shopping to do in the morning and there's a lot of sport on TV this afternoon and evening.
But last night my wife alerted me to a problem with the security light that covers the patio next to the French windows.
We've three PIRs in the garden, I like to think they deter the cats, at least we'll see them if they activate any during the evening and if I can bothered, I can shoosh them away, The one in question kept flashing, which worried her. She has a fear of electrical stuff ever since the "wifey fry," as she called it (Actifry) we had over a decade ago caught fire. There was a design fault with the original one so it was replaced, but she never used it again. A year later we gave it away.

So this morning I checked out the lamp by changing the bulb, which didn't make any difference. So I decided to move the one down on the side of the tea-house to replace it. While I was out shopping I decided I might as well get a new lamp. Argos didn't have a similar one in stock so I bought an LED one for fifteen quid. I still intended to bring the other one down as it was 400w so it would be brighter than the new one.

So I swopped them over.

Nothing's easy these days, is it?

The original one was plugged into one of these sockets.

But the cable supplied was about three inches shorter than the other and wouldn't reach the socket, why do they do it?

Fortunately, there's another socket behind the TV for the trail cam. So I could put the adapter in it and use that for both. I try to avoid using adapters when possible.

Anyway, job done. Now I'm watching the tennis.

I thought I'd start a new thread that can be continuously updated by everyone any day of the year. We have people on the forum from all around the world, so there is always somebody doing something with their garden. I think it would be nice to check in and see what our members have done. So whether you've been busy today or busy three months from today, here's the question... What did you do in your garden today?

I spent today preparing my vegetable garden. I had tons of weeds to pull. There's some kind of invasive grass that pops up in there, along with creeping charlie, so I pulled as much as I could find. I can start planting in about four weeks, so it's nice to have it all ready for the season! If I remember right, peas seeds can be planted before the average last frost date, so I might plant them soon. As some of you may know, growing fruits and vegetables is only a small hobby for me. I'm not into it as much as other forum members. I grow peas for my pond fish, as well as couple of tomato plants, pumpkins for decoration, strawberries, a blueberry bush, and a peach tree. I'm also trying lettuce this year. Tomorrow, I may add a few native plants to the outside edges of my vegetable garden so it looks a little more showy throughout the season.
Nothing much
It rained all day for 2days straight
A watermelon tree started growing randomly on my roof and I put some soil and walled it off with a couple of bricks
It's growing up really fast

I got Solar lights got a New Set to put up but can't with one Arm.

Watering today even though it is supposed to rain. We're behind over 20 inches so I don't figure I will hurt anything.

Thinking of planting Greenbeans later.

Haven't been outside, the wound in my leg starts weeping whenever I do, but checked the distant thermometer in the greenhouses, 105 in one, 107 in the other, and the missus went and opened everything first thing. First words my father said to my mother she once told me, "Bloody hot today".

I've just been outside between the sets in the tennis and mist sprayed the acers. It's definitely a day for some leaf curling without this attention.

I'm wondering high as it has gotten here is 90F.

Greenhouse before I got Fans and Shade Cloth was 110F understandable but growing inside where A/C is going it's showing 96F but I have found that Thermometer wrong.

Today I did nothing, but yesterday I trimmed the ancient briar rose that is right up against my front porch. That thing has thorns unlike any other rose. I swear the dang plant reaches out to grab people. Wicked wicked plant. Loads of roses. Where are the honeybees? Only saw one tiny hovering type bee.
After trimming the "mean" rose bush, I cut back my native Fuchsia (Epilobium canum). I hated doing it, as it's just about to flower, but it's next to the path and the delivery guys were struggling to get to my front door.
THEN, I yanked out some tall grassy weeds that look like Southwest cup grass. Slowly eradicating this "cup grass" from my yard (or so I tell myself). Perseverance will pay off, right?
Pulled out about 15 Sowthistle weeds, dismayed that some had already been able to disperse their seeds. At least they're easy to yank out.
Filled the birdbaths, filled the birdfeeders, front and back.
Dumped a load of bamboo and eucalyptus leaves into my compost bin.
Dumped the kitchen scraps into the compost bin.
Scooped mosquito larvae out of my rainwater containers. (One smart CA towhee has learned to run over and eat the larvae I tap out onto the sidewalk.
Dumped my kitchen sink "last rinse" water onto my blackberry, hyacinth and glads. (Glads are in full bloom now, looking spectacular.)
Really glad our weather has been gloomy and overcast. Sure makes weed-pulling and hedge-trimming a lot cooler work.
But today? I didn't even go past my front porch.

We were promised thunderstorms today, there's a bit of cloud but that's it. Too hot to do anything in the garden.

Anyway, "Dorothy" wouldn't want any unnecessary noise under the pergola. I took this on zoom so I didn't have to get too close, you can just see her beak.
