We actually had a puddle on the lawn last evening, first time I'd seen one for years. Shows how much rain we've had. Our houses are built on what was farmland until the sixties and the area was formally part of the alluvial plain of the River Mersey, so the soil is quite sandy. The water has all gone now, but it's likely to rain off and on until the week-end.

@Sean Regan ours was built on farmland, used farm deer and had horses. Before then it was marsh land and the Romans dug out ditches to drain it. It's not suitable for crops.

Thanks for taking care of Blackie for me Logan; he's now safely back home and just given me a good soaking whilst I've washed the Yeti; my clothes are now drying out as usual.

Hi,
Blackie on duty as usual so more wettings as I head into the workshop in my heavy "site" coat; will it ever dry up; I doubt it because it didn't all last year and now three months into this year still no change.
Once I'm in the workshop I soon settle down; it's the bit between getting off my backside and arriving in the workshop that is so hard every day.
