I would cry a TORRENT, too! Haha!

Never, never, never buy bird foods in gc. Wilko, Home Bargains or B&M. In fact, the fat balls are very good in the latter two. 49p for 6. A real bargain.

Funny you should mention wren. This morning, I thought a saw a butterfly fly across my garden. I then realised that it was weightier, so it must be a wren. We have had quite a few wrens in here.

I wish I had spare money like you... even catering for the cats.. The cat keeps wanting to come into my house. Every time I left the door open, it darted in in no time. Now, I even have a frog inside my lean to. Sorry, frog, you might have to die there.

@Colin thanks, yes he's back to normal now. So is Berry, they've settled down again now. Good quality peanuts don't come cheap.
@alp don't get a lot of starlings anymore, get pigeons they eat the seed that the others don't eat. I get the sunflower hearts, they don't germinate. You need to get a different blend of seed.

Very mild indeed. The ground is wet. Looks like it has rained. Very miserable looking. Another dreary day in Essex. 10 to 12c. Overcast all the way through and I am in my short sleeves.

Hi,

Thanks alp; generally I buy 2 x 1.5KG bags of peanuts twice weekly at our local Home Bargain store costing something like £2.95 per bag but I've bought them for so long I simply pick a couple of bags up each time I visit; I'll check the price next time they have stock? Yes its luxury to have spare money but as I've said many times Bron and I haven't had an holiday away from home for the last forty years or meals out or visited pubs or smoked or drank; we've run small cars like Micra's and Aygo's; instead we invested in our pension funds and in our home so now in retirement we are comfortable but few ladies would do without the things Bron has done without for all those years so now it's spoil Bron time in fact we've just returned home from Boundary Mills in Catcliffe; it's really nice now to say to Bron buy what you like and not what you need; there's a big difference between the two. We usually trade our car in at three years old for another new car; our current car is our Yeti SE L 2.0L diesel and we love it so much we might end up keeping it because Yeti's are being replaced by a totally new model; I like the style of our Yeti because I always wanted a Tonka toy. (y) I hope your resident frog is receiving due TLC alp poor thing. :)

I'm pleased things are settling down for you Logan and that the visits to the vet are about at an end? good luck. (y) Thanks Logan for the tip where to buy bird nuts; I'll have a look and buy a 20KG bag; we get through about 6KG of peanuts each week so it pays to buy in bulk and have them delivered to our door rather than me traipsing around the store to collect them. I also buy lots of cat biscuits.

10C here at the moment and no rain; WOW.

A quick edit;

Hi,

I've bought one of the 25KG bags of peanuts from "lovegardenbirds" and will try these although the reviews look good. Thanks again Logan for prompting me to have a look on the web; good of you. (y)

I've nothing planned for tomorrow so hopefully it will be a gardening day or more accurately demolition day considering all the bricks; hardcore and concrete I've been fighting whilst only wanting to dig the garden over. :(

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

Nice one Logan; you'll be overrun with birds as they tell each other to "get round to this kind lady who spoils us" (y)

After our last cat Bron and I decided not to have another cat due to the vets bills which we'd had enough of. The blackbirds however have enjoyed feeding from the cat biscuits that were always put out and what started off with just a few birds it's now costing us around £20 per week in cat biscuits and wild bird peanuts; our birds are so fat I'm surprised they manage lift off. Not just the birds but all our neighbours cats head to our bungalow for a free feed and plenty of TLC.

The top picture shows a stand off between white Aspro and Dudley the second picture shows Dudley skulking away from Aspro in very slow motion as only cats can do. The third picture is Max on my knees receiving TLC. These are three of many cats who visit us and all are most welcome. :)

Kind regards, Colin.
