Washout Britain: Weather warning as UK’s blanket of snow set to be washed away by widespread rain (but the big chill will return for at least a MONTH)

• Yellow warnings for snow and ice in place for South East and western areas of England and Scotland
• Heavy downpours in Wales and the North West expected with the rain set to wash away Britain's big freeze
• Police warn of treacherous conditions on roads - Met Office says wet weather could wipe away frost and snow
• In Scotland and Northern Ireland there will be a weather warning for snow and ice until midday on Friday
• But the weather was perfect for skiers and snowboarders on Wednesday who took to snowy slopes in Durham
