Hey guys. I'm trying to open this damn mango seed shell for hours. It's driving me freaking nuts.
I managed to chip the top part but it's still not cracking open. I'm so tired.

Thanks Larisa, I was just about to post my reply:D

Yes the yellow one is the hardy perennial Alyssum Saxatile ' Golden Queen' and white shrub ( which by the way is actually huge :) ) is Spirea Bridal Wreath , which there are several types.......not sure which one ours is.

alps, are you splashing in puddles ? We've had one short, sharp shower....so far:)

Well my larkspur is blooming and the first of my daffs. What I'm really happy with is that my foxtail is showing life. I had to move it from the side of my house last year because I lost all the sun. Anyways it just shriveled and disappeared on me but there was life underground, just needed to adjust.

Thanks Logan, no it's right side up. My downspout is on top of it, so It kind of hides the plant. I may move it this spring, after it has died back, to where it has the shade and can be seen.

Thank you for the names, Larisa and Upsy Daisy. Puddle? Where? Unless I wetted myself?!! I'm soooooo frustrated, especially when Logan is not sharing even though we are good friends. Her butts are full and I have one inch max. It only rained seriously for 20 minutes whilst I was enjoying the confrontation between Lady de Burgh and Miss Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice on Drama Channel. (They showed this a month ago! - how many repeats can one take?? Be honest!)

Lovely shrubs you have, Upsy! We want more of your garden photos.. and I can hear Larisa chanting for the same thing.

Johnny: I have never seen that flowers before, but then I'm kind of newbie (I will use this term to hide future embarrassment) :D:p Such delicate and tender pink. Very pretty flowers. So nice to see more of your flowers, johnny and that pink really tickles me pink!

@Klona Why do you want to open the seed? Are you trying to grow it or eat it?:D:p! I reckon you can just plant it like this. I planted my sweet chestnut with shells on and they have both sprouted.

Fancy having a mango tree or Lungan tree.. or Lai-chee tree.. even.. I'm already drooling all over my keyboard.

The seed is inside the shell, I cut a section of the shell without damaging the seed. I assumed that it's necessary to take the seed out because there's nowhere that says otherwise. Anyway, I'm letting the seed shell float in a tray of water.

Eat a nice mango, remove as much flesh from the seed as possible and then let it dry for a day or two. To germinate the mango seed you could just put the whole thing in a warm, moist place and wait for it to sprout. Then cut off all the seedlingsexcept for one. (The smallest supposedly gives you the best fruit.)

@Klona You see, you don't really need to de shell the seed. You might cause more damage to the seed by removing the shell, I think!
