I'm a horror movie fan so the first thing I would have thought was what happens if I get a flat or the car breaks down in the middle of it? Then I would have turned around and drove the long way home lol!
I’m a horror movie fan too.
If it were a movie you’d definitely break down, become cocooned and then eaten by the queen. Slowly. Lol

Did you know that unlike Jumping spider mothers, Wolf spider mothers do not feed their babies nor do the babies eat their mothers. All they do is carry them around until they are old enough to take care of themselves. A Jumping spider is like a cow, they actually provide spider milk to their babies while they lug them around. As soon as they are old enough the mother tells them to vacate the premises or she will find their dad and he will eat them.

I knew that about wolf spiders but didn't know about the jumping spiders, that is really cool!

I had no idea they provided milk. That’s actually fascinating.
I remember in grade school a teacher telling us that humans don’t care about things they are uneducated about. Such as animals and insects. I’ve always remembered that and found it to be very true.

I am getting up in years and I have always found plants and animals and insects a lot more interesting than people.

I am also in my 40's. Did the party thing, the marriage thing and popularity thing. No interest anymore, I just like being around nature. A crazy Friday night to me now is looking for water bears under my microscope, watching a cheesy horror movie and being in bed early enough to be up for sunrise lol. Once in a blue moon I go out and do the social gathering thing but not often.

You two are youngsters. I get up at sunrise and go to bed at dark thirty. Live way out in the country and have zero neighbors. When I not working in my vegetable patch I am out in the woods hunting. Watch the morning lies on TV and research interesting things I find in the woods on my compurter until bedtime. Used to be a party hound until about 30 years ago but that got boring.

What are you hunting? Wild turkey just closed here. Nothing much else here until big game in the fall.

My dad was a big hunter/fisher outdoorsman.
He didn’t garden but loved being out in nature.
And chuck I also go to bed at dark thirty and get up with the sun.
I’m too excited to get up and see what’s new outside to lay around in bed.
I’d love to live way out of town but we live in a suburb.
Pepper your lifestyle sounds much like mine lol
The older I get the more I just relish peace and nature and being away from crowds and noise.

I guess squirrel is big in the US. I love it but there is no hunting season for them where I am. You need a fur trapping licence for them. I have a trapping licence but don't bother. You can shoot them if they are a "pest". I have a lot of pests here lol!
