I went out to sort out the birds and another egg got cracked and eaten. Very annoyed and very, very hot! I love an overcast sky, Zenj! Wish I could swap with you.

My photos not half as lovely as yours. When I looked for photos, I asked myself when I took such beautiful photos, it turned out to be yours and DrCase's and Perki's!

Perki: Stunning red roses which go very well with the black elder! I wish I had looked after mine. It only cost me £1.50 years ago.

Watering the plants for an hour or more.

Bought some very tall agapanthus. I chose two pots - white and blue for the numbers of stems each pot had to get back my money's worth. Yesterday, I really regretted that: it was difficult cutting the stems apart. Using my strong Sabatier bread knife, I cut this way and that and just couldn't cut deep enough. Also, they were so pot bound that it was impossible to get the rootballs out. In the end, out came the secateur and the 2 pots were cut into pieces

A man came on Saturday and had a look at my house to see what needed repairing. Well, the list is endless .. son's wall the wallpaper of which keeps falling off, ceiling which had discoloured, the lean to the wall of which needed to be replastered as fungi grew along the side of the wall during winter; the garage needed to be rid of the asbestos; workshop roof caving in; patio ...

He liked my house so much that he told me he would buy my house if I wanted to sell so that he could spruce it up and sell it again. Then he told me that I could have my house done by like his and invited us to see his house on Sunday. Well, where is the dough?

;jjooj
Took all the near dying plants out of the glasshouses. It was horrific sights - either they were so dry that they were dead or dying or they were very tall. Then the SS removed all the leaves ..There was very little rain yesterday - just a lot of heat in the air, so much so that I had perspiration pearl drops rolling into my teacup

Went out to take some pics and came back to see the laptop not working - After restart, I saw these gremlins (in red) added to my text. My laptop (son's) is now not safe! Or some idiot trying to add to my text!

Another warm day again I'll have to go out and water the pots in a minute .

If you've got fungi growing in the house it sounds like you may have a damp problem or you're spilling water regularly while watering plants .

Well, there has been a terrible gap in the guttering and water gushed down onto the glass panels and then the mortar has disappeared in between some bricks and to crown it all, there has been a gap in the coping stones. Very fed up. I touched the plastered board and it literally was detached from the wall. More money to go and now I had to use the fan.

Red this tragedy: wild albino chimpanzee
It's just so sad - nobody bothered to take the knee for it. Look at its eyes! Amazing! Genetics is such an interesting thing. One blue eye and one brown eye. Poor thing. Nobody protected it.

I think we all have Black adders agastache! I bought another and it's growing really happily in this heat. Such a lovely clump of lovely white lilies, Zenj! A feast for the eyes!

It's just so hot that I came in for a breather and I can't believe my eyes:

Shop bans customers from paying with cash stashed in bras during heatwave

Source Metro news:

A businessman divided opinion when he recently took a stand against ‘bra money’.

Bedding salesman Michael Flynn has become fed up with customers paying with cash that has been stashed in their bras as temperatures soar to above 30C.

He sought to put an end to the ‘unsanitary’ habit by issuing an ‘urgent’ notice on a poster outside his store in Dublin.

The note from ‘Mattress Mick’ read: ‘NO BRA MONEY. Due to increasing temperatures, and for our own personal safety, we will NOT be accepting any bra money. Sorry for any inconvenience.’

And I need to go out again, with NO BRA and no MONEY! LOL!

DrCase: That is Echinacea Green Twister, which I thought originated from your country or the Prairies (googled and if true, from Prairies of Central or eastern Central America)? I bought a lot of 5 and only one plant turns out to be this one. Now I have to go around to pull the pink ones out. I am gutted as I don't really want to kill plants. Do they sell this in the US? I saw your beautiful Black and Bloom salvia and the calyx were so dark, almost jet black, only made shinier, darker and more mystical by your lovely photography.

When I was looking through the photos to find something, I saw this lovely peony, only to realise that it was not mine!

I shouldn't have moaned.

Yesterday, I noticed my pears had become prunes because of the extreme heat. The pears have all shrivelled inward. I plonked the whole thing inside a bucket of water. As that presenter in Australian gardening says: Soil in pot develops hydrophobia and water goes right to the bottom of the pot without it being absorbed or putting to good use.

Was surprised to see that GW was on last night. It was quite an interesting programme and the visit to Brodsworth Hall was eye opening.

Very pretty place. Shame it belongs to National Heritage of which we are not members.

Yesterday, I was working in the garden, so I let the hens out for half a day. About 4pm, I heard a terrible cry from one of them and I thought FOX! When I went there, one hen was still attacking the lame one, Laney. I was so annoyed. Very sad, I am sure Laney didn't want to be lame. It's very nice to see them roaming around until I saw a CALLING CARD in the MIDDLE of my Motorway!
