Well, I woke up earlier than you, Johnny, and might have woken up some firemen!

Amazing how well you have done in your garden, considering the weather. I went out to post a letter and was surprised by how cold it was. I was creating a pond (in big yellow crate) facing the southeast for my lilies. So far, not a flower! So I dumped a little bit of Epsom salt and hopefully, it responded by flowering. Or is it too late?

I also have taken cuttings - hydrangea paniculata - so airy and elegant. I wanted to take some more H. Quercifolia, but am worried that there might be no flowering spike next year. It's a lovely star shaped doubles.

Very pleased to see nerine flowering

Sorry, blurry again! Given by a gentleman who told my son that if we wanted more, we just needed to ask because we were polite and probably said THANK YOU!:LOL: Sounded like he was a bit wound up!

Nearly forgot this hibiscus double.

Love these funky toms!

This is how dry my lawn has been. Nearly two years of heat and moisture air and this summer's crazy heat, I have cracks like this. Perhaps, I should just pour shingle onto it.

They are everywhere in my lawn.

A very fragrant rose which I deliberately positioned just outside my patio door. The perfume is incredible!View attachment 43742

See the lovely split deer antler petals of this beauty! Love it!

Happy snapping!
Lovely flowers, yes you could put shingle in those cracks with some soil or compost.

Hi there @johnny canoe :) you certainly have the weather to contend with, and now frost and snow are creeping up on you and your lovely garden too :eek:
I have just taken a load of Pelargonium cuttings too(y)

I've been over at my Dad's today helping him have a clear out of paperwork, mags and old books ( yes, @alp ...a sure fire hazzard (y)). Gradually I am being given all my late Mum's gardening books and today I have come home with another batch which included a Wisley handbook on Pelargoniums and another one Pelargoniums....Specializing in Miniature And Dwarf Varieties. Also Illustrated Guide to Hostas.......lots of happy reading time to look forward to during the winter :):)

Oh dear @alp, I always save my old sowing / potting compost to top up borders and to fill in cracks caused by the summer heat...might work on lawns too:unsure:

Love the funky toms , we've eaten all the red ones and are now left with plants laiden with.......green ones !!:(

Been out taking out most the pot bound trees - miracot, plums, pears, bottlebrush bush. All removed and got stung by very angry ants who thought they owned my compost. Did about 5 hours of work. Watched Love your garden and was disgusted by the blatant commercialisation of the whole programme. A tiny bit of glass herringbone pattern cost £19 and he needed 34 of them. Porcelaine slab which is at least £19 in the shop. Then wooden planters were used to hold edible plants fixed to other wooden panels. I wonder how long the wood would last! Colour scheme of plants is nice. But the relentless plugging was off-putting!

Very grey and very humid in the afternoon!

You sure have worked hard for your dad! Those books must be quite old now! But I do have a very good propagation book from RHS. Wonder if @Leeski is busy making money!
I was so fed up with the big pots that I downsize the pots by removing quite a bit of old compost. The old pots were so big that I had no tray to put underneath it and here in Essex, everything dries up very quickly.

Bit scared now that son is not here!

Oh dear!!... Is it sad crying:( or happy crying:happy: ?

Glad that your lovely son will be back with you tomorrow.:)

I hate being on my own in the evenings/ night...especially last year when my sis was in hospital and I went up and stayed alone at her house for 6 weeks. Not sure why I have such a fear really ,after all it's the same place as in the day time !!:)(y)

A few years after Mum died I also inherited her Gardening Encyclopedia...... all 10 volumes!! :)

Try and have a lovely evening even if it means overdosing on television, then have an early night and before you know it your son will be walking through the door!:happy:

Sad crying. It's about Timothy Perry being killed in the Warrington bombing.

Yes, glad that you know how it feels like! Been working so much that I fell asleep watching Medical Detectives.

This weather is very ideal for taking cuttings. My Salvia amistads are now showing roots! Very pleased!
