Thought we were told by headfullofbees. But mind you, I collected seeds from Mambo and they germinated. Perhaps, it is not a double! But it does look like a double!

Woken up by the heat surge again before 4.30 and the fire alarm went beeping sporadically - like every 20 minutes. Called the fire engine and two came along. I don't understand it. It was not reported as a fire, but fire alarm not functioning properly and yet two fire engines came along. They said it was the old ones playing up - low battery. Any way, they said it was OK and gave me a new one. They have just gone.

Read @Upsy Daisy 's article again. it's very interesting.

Watching The Chase, the episode in which contestants go home with £25k each!

Whenever I left the laptop, the commercials would stop! Very annoying. It's as if there's an eye behind the programme, detecting your eye movement. And I thought I would escape watching the adverts when I made my tea. No! Very annoying!

Morning everyone!:)

Looks as if we are in for another nice day. Hope you all have a similar forecast to look forward to as well.

I am off shortly to spent the day with my Dad , helping to sort through some boxed up papers etc. Most of it will be binned, it's one of those jobs that you know is waiting to be done but the prospect is too daunting ....so the plan is that we tackle it together :)

Gosh @alp what a start to your day!!!...what happens when there is a heat surge then ,never experienced one. ;);) Was it a plan to get a visit by a load of dishy firefighters :ROFLMAO:

@Logan We got our installed by the Fire Department here! They came with big fire engines to install these alarms.

I hope my neighbour saw the engines flashing .. Life has become intolerable. I will stop using the old smoke alarms.

Well, @Upsy Daisy There was a dishy but short one. But they were so polite and that what I liked. Just finished watching The Beechgrove Garden and we southerners shouldn't really complained. We never have had so much rain

And the presenter George Anderson said that 20c in April and Jim was in short sleeves, the following week it was 4c with 6 inches of snow! A good excuse for disappearing flowers!

Heat surge is like suddenly I felt very hot and humid. It's like the mercury climbed up, usually before 4.30am! No, not menopause. I have never had hot flush. It's now a daily occurrence!

Dream on! She's from Kent. Would you believe it?

Wish I had moved to Kent when son first started uni!

Going to weed the front. Just can't find the weedkiller. Might just boil of kettle of hot water and do it organically as this cool and sunless morning is best for this exercise. A bit of edging too. I must take some pic and write down what I had planted as soon when things are growing (warm September helps in Essex), the plants will be covered and I will plant another one on top. I have even put down the £1 Oleander without pot and straight away, it's flowering!

I took my first batch of pelargonium cuttings yesterday. I believe some parts of the province are covered in frost right now and there has been snow west of the city in the mountains. No frost here yet but the mornings are very chilly when riding my bike down to the river. Think I will drain my largest rain tank today, maybe buy some nano fish for one of my aquariums. Now it's 4:50am and time to make some coffee and wait for the sun to rise.

Well, I woke up earlier than you, Johnny, and might have woken up some firemen!

Amazing how well you have done in your garden, considering the weather. I went out to post a letter and was surprised by how cold it was. I was creating a pond (in big yellow crate) facing the southeast for my lilies. So far, not a flower! So I dumped a little bit of Epsom salt and hopefully, it responded by flowering. Or is it too late?

I also have taken cuttings - hydrangea paniculata - so airy and elegant. I wanted to take some more H. Quercifolia, but am worried that there might be no flowering spike next year. It's a lovely star shaped doubles.

Very pleased to see nerine flowering

Sorry, blurry again! Given by a gentleman who told my son that if we wanted more, we just needed to ask because we were polite and probably said THANK YOU!:LOL: Sounded like he was a bit wound up!

Nearly forgot this hibiscus double.

Love these funky toms!

This is how dry my lawn has been. Nearly two years of heat and moisture air and this summer's crazy heat, I have cracks like this. Perhaps, I should just pour shingle onto it.

They are everywhere in my lawn.

A very fragrant rose which I deliberately positioned just outside my patio door. The perfume is incredible!
