Goodness me!!! Fires I can believe as we've had then in the woods and fields before during very hot and dry spells... ....but that pavement !!!!!!!:eek: The railway track is also very disturbing too, unless they have people patrolling the whole UK network , which is doubtful, then it's all down to the train drivers to flag up an alert.. ....very worrying considering the speed they travel at !

Good morning to all and good night to @DirtMechanic and the rest of the American contingent!

Have just done an hour of water and also wetted all of my "lawn"! I have never seen my lawn in such a dire state. Cracks about half an inch opening up everywhere and bald patches in between caused by the bonfires. On top of that, there are terrible daisy and weeds which have deep roots and can't be eradicated. Then there is the camomile..

One good thing is that my Salvia Greggii Salmon pink has flowered. ONE lone dahlia has shown red petals and Achillea Cerise Queen has smiled on me. The white achillea which I bought from Poundland is taking over and I was new to it when I bought it. Echinaceas are showing buds, as well as the echinops and eryngiums. Red Gaura is flowering as well, albeit 2 flowers. Prince George has come out of his shyness and has numerous blooms.

Good Morning to one and all!!

Another scorcher today. Just lets remind ourselves that on a grey , cold , dismal winters day we will look back fondly on these hot, sweltering days.:)

Have a good one.....drink plenty of fluids(y)
Avoid all train journeys and definitely NO walking on pavements!!(y)

Good ones! Thank you for making me laugh! Need a dose of this every day! Yes, the sun is blinding, again. Quite a few plants have died. In the next few days, this broken record will play!

A very useful video

Same here! That's how I feel - dying, and the heat doesn't help.

I direct sowed some more Zinnias yesterday , a bit late I know , but in the GW mag it said you could still get away with it. I live in hope!

I am hand water bottle feeding all my other poor Zinnias.....not sure if they are appreciating my efforts to save their lives though.......they could make an effort themselves and try and look a little happier. Not asking too much...is it?

I think they say you could. But one more spot to water. Did you see @johnny canoe 's beauties and he's in Canada! I think I will do that, two fewer packets of seeds to move with me when the day comes.

Would love to direct sow more fennel, but I need to pray for rain every minute, perhaps a rain-dance, with a bit of prayer from John!;)

Been out pruning!:eek::cry:! I know it's not the right time, but at this rate, the fruit trees are dying any way. I soaked them by them in a tub of water and son and I were sweating badly. When water hit the tub, I could smell plastic!:eek: It's that bad! I will direct sow Zinnia tomorrow morning. Good idea!
