Trying to find this at the local (Lockport, NY) Tractor Supply. Is this maybe just available in Texas? When I enter Crossbow, the search only provides the weapons.

You remove the bark around the circumference of the tree. Looks like a wedding band mark.

Another name for girdling the tree (removing a section of bark all the way around trunk, thereby not allowing nutrients to flow and tree will die)

Search Triclopyr. That is the active ingredient in Crossbow. It is sold under many different brands and is sure to be in a store near you

Thanks for all of the suggestions for removing those trees, with all of the rain we have been getting I will need to do something quick before they start to damage the fences. I have forgotten about trying to plant in that space this year. I plan to just do a few pots in the sunny part of the yard.
