What sorts of things do you want to get done this month? What do you want to plant, maintain etc?

Right now we're looking at starting off some mint and basil, some more peppers and tomatoes for an autumn harvest and planting some bulbs for lilies and dahlias. It's about time our houseplants were fertilised too and we want to create some hanging baskets.

I've been told that now is also a good time to take stem cuttings from your plants, so we're thinking about that too.

I am moving into a new house that has a huge backyard that needs lots of help. I hope to be able to plant some late veggies like tomatoes, green beans and lots of flowers.

It is just getting hot in the area so I don't know what is in store for me other than lots of work.

To be honest I don't have a to do list for gardening - as for some reason I just seem to everything automatically and even if I did I probably wouldn't have one for June - as due to the extremely hot climate where I live everything is already done and therefore June is generally an easy month - with nothing much needed to be done - other than general maintenance and starting to reap the rewards of my labors - like for instance I've just had an abundance of cherries and apricots to pick - which will now be closely followed by potatoes and artichokes and then an abundance of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and eggplants towards the end of the month which is when everything gets into full swing and all the fruits like strawberries. melons, plums and peaches - will all start to become ready for eating too :)

It is a lot of work Pat but it is well worth it. I don't have a list either, at this point its a lot of maintenance and watering, waiting for the plants to do their thing. Due to the cold weather everything is running late right now but as the temps continue to rise the plants will flourish.

For myself, I have a lot of catching up to do. Firstly, I bought a strawberry plant that has outgrown its container, and it has its own little place reserved in the garden. I am hoping to make many strawberry plants out of that one, but that's after it has matured a bit. Then I bought this small grape plant that was in a very bad condition when I bought it. It has grown a bit now, but not enough for it to go in the garden. Once I get those to jobs done, my garden will be complete.

I don't have any very special plans for June. Usually, I make spontaneous decisions;) But I know that I want to buy a few new herbs. Also, I have many plants that need to be transplanted, because they're too big for their current pots.

For me, this year, June is my month I have the herbs out mostly. I am putting out the Cuban oregano today. I am enjoying the progress of the eggplants growing. I mostly am just watering.

June in general is the month that I just try to 'hold whatcha got', type thinking, lol.

I have several large tubs left, but it's too late for some crops. I am deciding, again on the tweaking, that the big tubs and pots too big to move around are going to only be food type 'crops', not the herbs that enjoy being moved around.

I will make several more trips in June to see what the early/mid summer month has, as different things 'appear' at my favorite nursery.

So basically, June is still 'everything', 'who knows what she will do' type month. . As I could find that even tho tradition says it's 'too late' for such and such crop, if it is a long one, it doesn't matter heat as our heat is so long that I just may do it anyway.

What a hodgepodge answer, I know. :)

Not much to be honest, since I'm not actively gardening anymore. But back in the day I'd already be getting ready to re-pot a few of my plants and get new kalanchoe cuttings to plant in small pots. I had so much fun, I'd be buying the things I needed around here, and checking out the nurseries for new plants and some soil.

June is mostly just maintenance for me here in south Louisiana...and starting to harvest tomatoes. Heavy gardening is done mostly in the early morning because of the heat. Watering what needs it in the afternoon if we don't get a nice shower. If I can be up and moving by dawn, that's a good day. "moving" is the key word. Haha

Sounds like a lot fun, Tommy! I haven't been gardening for a while, if I do move out I guess my gardening will change a little bit. The place where I'm going to is said to get a bit steamy during this season. I guess june will be a nice month for me as well, no many things to do but harvest a few things and some maintence ;)

I am going to clean off all the patio furniture in my garden area so I have a clean space to sit and watch things grow. At the end of the moth when I have extra money I am going to buy some herb starters.

Good luck with your move Pat. It is a bit of an upheaval and takes a bit of time to settle in to a new place. Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you with your new big backyard so it'll keep you busy.(y)

Kalanchoe is a fascinating plant. I've just broken bits off a put them in pots. Would you suggest a more formal approach as I really like it and would like To propagate it more successfully. winter here though so it's probably not the right time.
