I'd love something like that but it's never going to happen. We're planning a move in the not too distant future, but it will be to a smaller house, so there simply won't be space. I've got a small polycarbon one now, and when I assembled it I had to leave out some panels because there wasn't a safe area where I could use the whole kit. So the best I can hope for is that in our new home I'll have room to assemble it at full size.

I have a small house (about 950sq ft) but an ok size yard for this area. Actually the bigger backyard and larger garage sold me on the property. The house is just somewhere to hold our stuff, sleep and shower. The outside space was more important.

But for a greenhouse like that I'd first need a bigger house. The reality is this year I plan to upgrade to a larger portable greenhouse because it works the best for where I am now

someday I'll have something attached to the house
I love it!!! It's such a gorgeous greenhouse. If I ever have a house, I'll definitely try to encourage my boyfriend to build us something like this. I'd spend most of my time there.

Oh my... Where do I start?

While it would be nice to have something that was 'pretty', I'm much more attracted by function and utility than appearance (OK, that kind of describes me in a nutshell, but I digress...). I'd like something big - at least 25' x 40', with all the professional ammenities; light, water, wifi ;), I'd like it to be earthsheltered or dug into a southern facing hill, with an insulated foundation that goes below the frost line so I could keep my soil warm even in winter. I'd like it to have a wooden frame, maybe cedar, and double walled glass so I can see out (my biggest beef about poly) as well as a wood stove in it to keep the place cozy in winter.

My dream greenhouse would be one that looked like the kind of place you'd think a hobbit (from Tolkien) would be at home in. Yeah... Something like the ones below, but neither is quite what I mean. I guess I'll have to build it to show you. ;)

Well, my dream greenhouse would be something like this -

glass palace.jpg

I could envision it with all kinds of tropical plants and aviaries. I'd love to have things like banana trees and orchids and fountains with water lilies. And of course, some peacocks. On the pond outside, geese and swans.

However, my realistic dream greenhouse would look more like this -

I could see a small patio set in the middle, surrounded by shelves with a couple of bonsais, a jade plant, a few houseplants on one side, and on the other a place to start seeds and pot plants.

Wow.... I.... wow.... that is awesome. I just don't really have anything to say on this. It is an amazing idea. I just imagined the second picture filled with a explosion of color and scents of various flowers in it with a stone path down the middle. LOL
