No gardening today, it was cold, wet and windy....I played golf in it instead!

The David Austin roses I'd ordered arrived whilst I was out.

I'll transfer them to the glazed pots tomorrow.

These are they, the ones they are replacing, in their new plastic pots.
There's some growth on them. I've given them some fresh compost mix and some rooting pellets. I'll leave them on this patio where they will get a lot of sun, to see how they do.

Too wet even for golf today. It's been raining for 24 hours. So no gardening. I'm just letting it "get on with things."
The acers' foliage is filling out, there will be a bit of shaping to be done, once they are in full leaf.

The lawn's beginning to recover.

The new roses have been potted up and have taken their place with the other ten on this patio.

I removed bad soil in two raised beds and replaced with fresh compost (Dyno Lite from Denton). Replaced two straightneck squash(dead) and planted two more bell peppers.
The Dyno Lite is compost from Denton City Water Reclamation and Land fill. Very good compost!

Pulling dirt today from the onion bulbs...loosening/removing the top layer of dirt that surrounds the onion bulb. This is an important task in growing 4-to-6-inch onion bulbs. I fashioned a tool out of a "claw" to make the task easier on the back. It sure is appreciated when working on about 300 onion bulbs.

These bulbs will make dramatic growth in the next 4 weeks and be ready for harvest/storage about mid-May.

Couple new plants to plant today, got some new hellebores .
What are hellebores?
I managed to complete the last raised bed frame (#6), added 50/50 native dirt and Dyno Lite compost. This will be my watermelon bed. Planted the last of my starts from seed plants in bed # 5. Now to relax a little.

It's been a hard spring on watermelon, cantaloupe, and okra here. Much cooler than normal and slow going.
