Between the pictures on here and the ones on You Tube under Estherredstar gardens. I try each year to find different shot. after all the same plants do come up. This year look forward to possible blooming of Blue poppies something new for me. Also will add more bird friendly plants to the valley slope area, such as more blue berry shrubs. Looking at some Hellaborus also to add.

Update on the Blue Poppies. I have 6 seeds that have finally popped. so thrilled. I know many of you start veggies from seeds, I don't usually deal with seeds too often. So thrilled. When I priced out a blue poppy plant it is up there, so thought I'd give this a shot.

By blue poppies, you mean meconopsis Grandis or B??? Oh, I am thrilled for you. I have been given tons of seeds by a very nice gentleman, but here the weather is too hot for them. But I followed the instruction: ie. out to the frost to break its dormancy and I now have about 20 seedlings, but they are leggy and fragile and I have suddenly lost all my passion.. and I am worried that they are monocarpic as well. I must put them out to the only moist patch in my garden where I have hellebore seedlings and Trollius Chinensis trying to come up.. I hope your post is a spur to me.. get me into action.

They are the Himalayan Blue Poppies. More babies appeared today. They are only fractions tall. They are inside in a sunny window, getting sprayed daily. Most likely beginning of May they will just be sat outside. I am away on vacation for about 10 days in May, so have to hope mother nature will be kind to them outside on a sunny deck. I am excited. Usually when I deal with this type of plant--later will transplant them to larger pots and keep them safe till next year. they may go in the ground in 2018 in the summer or fall, depends. I started Mountain Rue that way, took couple years before they were sturdy to handle in ground.

Esther: Think about Scotland and plant them where the conditions are like Scotland.. They are like wild flowers there! I planted mine out and was so pleased until I saw another big tray and now I have headache as that only cool patch is already full ..

I am good with reseeders. have to find the right spot for them to be protected from other people who do not remember where reseeders are. IT will be a while before I let them out on their own.

How I wish I had a bigger garden with lots of different microclimes.. As soon as I clicked post reply, I realised that you might be much more experienced than me.
