Hi,
Thanks for sharing your excellent pictures Logan.
I did the usual 3 supermarket shopping setting off at 7:15 this morning and back home by 8:30. Our private estate is like a skating rink and vehicles have been abandoned up the lane; driving conditions on main roads are OK but side roads remain treacherous; a bit warmer at -1.5C this morning and it's stopped snowing. I'm pleased I cleared our paths yesterday and removed the snow from the car so not too much hassle before driving off; the windscreen washers are frozen as is our outside water tap located to the bungalow rear; this tap has a wooden cover over it so it must be a bit chilly out there.

I try to avoid our local M62 motorway as much as possible; it's a terrible motorway even in summer but in winter it's a nightmare being the highest motorway in the country and it sure is bleak over the top of The Pennines. We live near The Pennines and our valley side catches extremes of weather it usually being bad. I believe drivers have been stuck for up to 20 hours on the M62; glad I wasn't one of them.
Yesterday a chum remarked that years ago when we were kids tar used to melt on the pavements and roads due to very hot summers; I'd forgotten about this because I can't remember the last time I saw tar melting in summer; it's just a distant memory; I always like the smell of tar.
I've booked Blackie and Gale again for 2018 why spoil our year with a long hot summer; much better to work outside in driving rain as I've done for many years.
Kind regards, Colin.
