Stevia is an all natural sweetener. So this means that you can use it in place of sugar. Try drying it and grinding it into powder. You may find this will be an easier way to add it to some of your recipes and drinks besides lemonade.
I'd love to grow Sevia, but I had the impression that herb would be hard to grow? Finding the seeds here would be kinda difficult, I bet. I'd love to use the real thing as a sweetener, I use the store bought Stevia-based sweetener, but that thing actually makes me crave candy even more!!!!
I have been using stevia for years. I home cared my father for five years, and we argued constantly about his sugar intake. He was diabetic. I found stevia online, and it was so much cheaper to buy online than in the stores, if you could find it. I would "hide" the stevia in the sugar bowl, and he would sneak it out at night. I loved baking sweets with it.
I read on the internet that stevia is great for controlling hypertension, diabetes, for upset stomach and even for dandruff/dull and thin year. I have also realized over the years that most of the diet teas on the market use stevia in their products so i am thinking it could aid in weight loss too.
I had no idea that stevia has so many health benefits. It sounds like a great substitute for sugar. I think I'll start growing it too. I hope I'll be find it in a store in my area.
My mom showed me what stevia was. I use it all of the time, more than honey. I love it, one of the best artificial sweeteners made. If I'm not wrong, I do believe you can use this as an alternative for sugar in baking.
