Do you happen to know the origin of them? I know they came from the Sweet 100s of 1978 by Northrop-King but curious who and when the Super sweets were developed?

I understand that the origins of these tomatoes is a guarded secret, but there is a rumour that the old fashioned ''gardener's delight'' had something to do with the parentage.

Larger than a Pinto bean and smaller than the Bingo bean I grow, this Missouri Bill is a great soup bean that was rumored to come from the Oregon Trail in the 1880s and possibly originally from Africa and carried across America as it provided high quality protein to the travelers. It is today recognized as a heritage plant, and it is very productive.

This makes about 40 gallons of beans total from my little plot for this season and that's it...the rest and remaining will be turned back into the soil for soil replenishment.

Well, I've never heard of those before - I had to look them up -fried beans! They remind me of the beans that Zigs likes to grow - the Bridgewater variety, also heritage - I'll mention it to him.
Our weather is just starting to pick up a bit, it will be ages before we can bring in much harvest. I believe it's been hotter up there in Scotland. Although colder here, no rain, and the barrels will be dry soon.

Absolutely...and that's how we will use most of these...in tacos, enchiladas, Huevos rancheros, Molletes, and all kinds of dips....mmm delicious.

Our Bridgwater beans aren't ready yet, slow start with the cold weather, planted them out and they just stopped growing and the slugs ate half of them

These are some old pics...

Just found a pic from 2017, wasn't quite the one I was looking for but you can see some variation (ignore the other seeds :D)

It is kind of fascinating...even within the same batch from the same bean like these Missouri Bills shelled out, it is a veritable kaleidoscope.

Sacking up cucumbers (about 30 lbs) and tomatoes (about 25 lbs) for a run to the food bank today. It is so enjoyable to send our excess out to good use.
