Congrats on the new job!! Starting a new job is always a really exciting experience! Congrats! I might end up working at a gardening store as well in the near future! I think that kind of job is perfect for you, because you love plants so much and you know a lot on the topic =D Best of luck, I hope you have a lot fun!

Thanks, Trellum! It really is nice to talk about something you're passionate about all day and not get glazed looks from those who are disinterested. Yesterday I talked to a few different people who were either just starting gardens for the first time, or hadn't had a lot of success. It's nice to be able to share what I have learned to help them.

Congrats! It's enviable when someone can have a job doing what they love haha. I always found the gardening centers so much better to hang around at in stores because they're so pretty and the staff usually care more than the ones in other departments.

Glazed looks? So that is what that is. That coupled with polite silence is what I often experience. I am envious of you. You get to deal with people who insist on talking garden!!!

Aw, thank you! That's really kind of you to say. It's going to be a little rough for a while going in at 5:30 in the morning (beginning next week), but I'll be around to help people plan their gardens when it's most busy, which will be nerve-wracking if it's super busy, but still fun since I get to talk about plants :)

Finally, right? LOL It's seasonal. but I am hoping to stay on even just part-time in the fall. I chatted with some beginner and amateur gardeners today and was able to give them some ideas for things they weren't aware of. It's nice to be able to do something that will actually mean something.
Even when it gets tiring, I hope you'd enjoy. And I think you most probably will, knowing that you're working with the things you love most. :)

Actually, I am the one who insists on talking garden, lol. Most people are in too much of a hurry or they want the easy solution, not understanding that isn't necessarily what is best. (Especially when it comes to unwanted wild plants and bad garden bugs!)

It's great though to talk to someone just starting and excited about their new garden.

I think I will too; you know that feeling of exhaustion combined with satisfaction? LOL!

On my way!

Awesome! have lots of fun there. Working in the garden section will be great for you!

Thanks! So far so good!

I only hope it will continue to be that way. I like being able to be outdoors to enjoy the sunshine and all the lovely plants. I remember working in an office once with no windows and not knowing if was light, dark, raining, or sunny out. Very odd sense of deprivation

It's true! Yesterday I learned that you have to change the oil in a riding mower after every five hours of usage. Not that I ever plan on owning one - getting a little old to maintain that much grass, lol! I also learned a few things about laying down pavers...

Yeah, no, that doesn't happen at my store. Almost everyone stops to talk to me, lol. Quite often they are asking me about stuff in other departments I know NOTHING about! Most of the time though, I 'm able to find the thing, or find someone else who can find it. Sometimes it's had to get tasks completed.

You are perfect for that job because of your extensive plant knowledge.
They're lucky to have you on their team.

I've only been here a short time, and I picked it up immediately on her knowledge, and caring of the plant world. Well said ACSAPA. (y)
