I like the rain also, excepting that lawn mowing and soil handling is best done when there is no mud. 
I grew up in an area that was semi-desert, and we had a wet season and a 10 month long dry season. I have NEVER taken rain for granted..... I just hate having my plans disrupted! Being rained out when I was growing up was a RARE occasion, and not something that I enjoyed getting used to.
So, I did get cross for a bit.
California, where I grew up, is one of the finest produce growing area's in the USA, but they raise the produce on IRRIGATED land! In reality it is very dry.
