Why would they object to you having plants in your garden?

NO no. They'd object to a greenhouse.

The neighbor who shares a fence line in our back yard is a good friend. He has quite the garden spread around his property and is constantly adding and changing things. (He's a little neurotic, haha.) One year he started building a greenhouse. Nothing big and certainly not even half as gaudy as his (a) trampoline or (b) swing set. He got a letter on his door within a week telling him it was not allowed and to take it down.

This means someone in the neighborhood took the time to make a formal complaint. I can't believe they let him keep the trampoline and the swing set (which he "added" to by enclosing the treehouse part and it is enormous and cool for kids but totally unsightly.... good thing we are friends with them and my kids play over there a lot).

Anyway. Kind of silly really.

I think most people could do something around here that would be very neat and tidy - but we even have to get approved for external sheds in our yards.

I love your greenhouse. Your babies look so cute and healthy! You've got a lot of them too. It is going to be awesome when they grow even bigger and the flowers start to bloom.

That sounds crazy to me!

As far as we're concerned sheds and greenhouses are an integral part of having a garden. Sheds are for housing garden tools, machinery and accessories and greenhouses are for growing plants and bringing them on in readiness for planting out at the right time of year.

Your local authority needs a good talking to! I'd do it for you if I was in your country ;)

Sheal, all your plants look strong and very healthy!:) Ever since I remember, I've always had a soft spot for baby plants. They remind me of puppies and kittens:love:

Thank you Claudine. They are growing quite quickly now and really need to go outside but the weather here is being stubborn, it's not as warm as it should be at this time. :(

Looking at all the efforts you put in to your seasonal flowers and vegies I now know why I am not a success (lol)

Grouie, your garden looks successful to me! :) I think most of us tend to have a preference, either gardening or growing. I prefer growing and would rather own a plant nursery than a garden. :)

What do other members think, do you prefer the gardening to the growing?

Thank you IcyBC. :) My greenhouse is emptied and totally cleaned once a year and the reason it's kept neat is because I can't bear working in a mess, all my pots, trays and labels are washed and stored straight after using. To be honest I'm a perfectionist and unless everything is in order in my eyes then I won't be happy with it. Even the plants have to stand to attention!

Middle of the road Bootsy, a good combination. :)

Thanks. Here in India we depend on outside labour which is rare these days. I would have loved to have some seasonal flowers and vegetables which need more work than the perennials I have.

Well perhaps you could grow some annual flowers and find a spot in your garden specifically for them Grouie. There's something very satisfying about producing full grown plants from tiny seeds. :)

Eleven days on since I took the last photo's and the plants have made progress but they have been slowed down by a change in the weather. They should be outside by now hardening off before planting.

I haven't grown as many plants this year, the bottom shelves would normally be full too. When my tomato plants are ready they will be planted in buckets and remain in the greenhouse, apart from the 'Manx Marvels'. The others are 'Gourmet' an average sized salad tomato and 'Sungold' a sweet cherry size tomato.

I have done all that and more when I had a full time gardener. ;) I do have some even now but not that many. I have several perennials that kind of colour my garden.
