How do I cut off the spent flowers? I think I've been doing it incorrectly. I cut the spent stalk just above the leaf's pocket (The flap that covers the lower flower stalk), but the flower's stalk kept becoming thinner and more brown. After a couple of weeks I pulled it out without feeling any resistance. Like pulling out a noodle.
The flower stalk seems to go deep down the leaf's pocket. Any good techniques for better cuts? I can't find any online.
