Yes newspapers will work but also like mushroom compost........best used in autumn I think. Used to be a few mushroom farms down here and had tons of it supplied. Not so plentiful now. Of course, if you have acid soil or ericaceous plants then dont use mushroom compost
No sign of rain but forecast suggests we will have some tonight...

The forecast said we would get some this evening, but we only saw two spits and a splatter and it stopped again :(

Good morning to all:

@Tetters When son comes back again, I will pop down to a farm down the road to see if they use mushroom. I am sure they do beans.. I will investigate.. I will also ask about in the golf course at the back .. They used to have a whole pile of cuttings.. when they felled their trees.. Or even in the park up the top.. Every little helps. I did use shredded newspaper as mulch as autumn.. I will collect as much as possible and shred tons of it.. Using metered water is such scary.. Must say mulch is better than water as when it disintegrates, as Verdun points out, it helps the soil structure as well as I have clay ... Thank you to you both for the very useful suggestions..

Is it too late to seed petunias, anyone?

Great! I will just use the B&Q compost.. Must do it. As all the others came to nothing.. Such poor quality. I won't buy them again. Might just wait for reduction £1 a tray and all problems solved. It seems to me the seed quality is not as good as last night. The way the house is cold doesn't help. Thank you, Logan..

Not all men.HAHA. hubby likes sparkling wine, but only at Christmas. I nearly fooled him yesterday, when I was putting the dinner out. I asked him, have you got the wine out.

Haha! Talk of the devil! @Verdun You usually get up earlier than this.... You're being stalked by me... Hehe..

Did you have a nice Easter Sunday? Have you pinched any chocolate from your niece?

It's a grey and dry day.. and I'm going to sieve my compost .. Seed some petunias and Monty is talking about taking dahlia cuttings.. I'm going to do that.

@Logan You're nearly CRUEL! Imagine how excited when he heard that and you dashed his excitement...

Should have rewarded him with a glass or two.. After all, it's Easter or was it Christmas??!! ;)

Morning Logan, alp and Verdun, how is everyone today?
Hope you're not all chocolated out!

Might walk into town again to get the bits I had hoped to get yesterday.......are the shops open today?

alp I only sowed my Petunias a couple of weeks ago, they are still very teeny.

Still waiting for baby's arrival......poor niece is having a tough time.

On a cheerier note we have a beautiful sunny morning here.

Have a lovely day x

@Upsy Daisy The first one is always a bit late.. so don't raise her hope... Can't wait for a baby to say hello.. but the first one tends to be a bit late.. Hope she doesn't need a C section and hope everything goes well with mother and baby...

The sun has just come out.. I'm still reeling from the amount of dishes and glasses from last night.. and there were only 3 of us..

Today, all supermarkets are open .. so no worries, Daisy ... Yesterday son went to the tiny express to get cloves and of course, it's so tiny that they didn't store cloves.. Must get some cloves today.. They are lovely ..

My hubs doesn't drink at all, except for his beloved cuppa. I only have a tipple occasionally...been told my body reacts to it (no!!! not meaning that I get sozzled :D..Think we all react then:ROFLMAO: ) But I find the odd one now and again does no harm.....Cheers!
