Good morning eveyone....hope you all have a great weekend :)
Re those woodchips alp, fine to use now but in spring you would need to add a fertiliser like sulphate of ammonia with them. Woodchips in spring would, could, temporarily deplete nitrogen available to plants.
Sunny and warm again for today......(y)

Can I use the woodchips for my hellebores bed please, @Verdun ? What fertiliser will have sulphate of ammonia in it? I heard George Anderson mentioned it when he was trying to have a 2nd round of lettuce.

Actually, his sowing next to slab is a very good idea. I had a lettuce growing all through winter because it grew next to a slab which gave out heat.

Morning alp. When woodchips rot down they take nitrogen from the soil so plants could suffer in early spring. Actually any general fertiliser would help balance this. Not a prob in autumn as plants are "closing down" :)

Lovely photo, @zenji . I love robins as they would keep me company and come quite close to me, as if they were my friends. A lovely day here as well. Very mild and very bright and son is going to ex and I will have the whole house to myself again.

Miss the chance of bargain hunting.

But then again, I spent £99.99 on an ebac, so I'd better rein myself in.

Saw in hotuk****s that they were going at £99.99 whilst I bought my last one years ago for more than £230 on a more advanced model, so ordered one online and went to collect it yesterday. The white one which we wanted was in an opened box and the staff in Wickes was very nice. He lifted up the bottom and I saw dust and dirt and declined it. I told him that I didn't mind the yellow one (bigger 18L rather than 15C, but the colour is SHOCKING!) although online store record showed only all whites in that store. We were directed to the two other boxes. The kind staff opened the 2nd box which showed a yellow machine and my son who was hovering in the background as if he didn't come with me suddenly whispered to me, "Mum, go for this one as the blue tape binding the parts on each side shows that this machine is NEW!" And I asked the staff to lift up the bottom again to see any wear and tear.

Very pleased, with my son and with the machine!

@alp Hubby had a blood test for his cholesterol and he had a bad bruise. I used to give blood and they had trouble finding the vein,I don't think I've got any:ROFLMAO: One time it was really painful, I decided not to do it anymore. But they've always had that trouble with me.:(
I have the same problem @Logan no veins I have to go for a yearly check up and they always have problems tapping every where to try and get a vein to stand out and I usually end up with a large bruise.

Thank you so much. I will do just that. Hope the sun is not too hot today, but it is very bright now. Hurrah, even @zenji has a nice day to look forward to!

Good Afternoon from a very sunny and extremely warm Northern Ireland (yes its Summer, for a few hours at-least:)) I hope everyone is having a great day whatever their/our ailments.
Well This mad fool went and rapped a complete strangers door for some Rhubard Leaves to make my waterfall, told you I was completely bonkers...Anyway the kind lady was really obliging if a little miffed by my explanation of the task in hand..That was this morning and after a couple of failures due to me buying the wrong concrete (quick drying which did what it said on the tin literally :) ) I now have HOPEFULLY 2 nice setting moulds..It's now become a 24 hour waiting game before I can turn them over wish that nothing falls off...are your fingers crossed...I know mine are

@BigC you should have gone with those glorious pics to show her. Those leaves are massive. It's going to look nice. Make sure they are secure as we don't want falling leaves. I did 3 pots of salvia amistad cuttings and came in to google and of course, this MAD woman did it all wrong. So I googled hibiscus and dahlia cuttings as well. Some dahlias cuttings have died on me. But I will persevere ... I am going to do the hibiscus cuttings now.

alp, you're getting to know me!! ;) :D Aww...

 Remember that my mother was a teacher...it's a sign of affection, really. :geek:

@Verdun, since alp is The Great Bargain Hunter, couldn't she throw a couple healthy handfuls of used coffee grounds in with the woodchips this fall? They are a slow-release source of nitrogen, maybe they'd offset the depletion of nitrogen by spring? That, and/or pour urine on them? That would help save on the water bill, too! (y)

Actually your not far wrong @MaryMary :)
Friday night I was wondering, when I go to the house, would the leaves be large enough, was it the right time of year for rhubarb leaves to be in good condition...When I saw the plot I said to myself gosh these are all huge...I even left the largest one uncut it was massive as big as my pond lol.

The plan is to thin and move the Iris for next year and make the waterfall come in from the left hand side (2 leaves) a small one (upper) and the larger one semi overhanging the pond edge below..That is if everything turns out as planned..I will paint the concrete with a green wash and layer it to look like a real plant then I will spray seal it for durability...fingers crossed (ps excuse the Hosta's dam snails...I was winning at one stage but they are relentless
