Oak Leaf Hydrangeas as a Standard

Obviously hydrangeas are snow safe. We don't have that extreme cold where i live but they do suffer from the heat. A friend of mine would see each year one front garden of hydrangeas with table clothes pegged from the fence and over the plants to protect them over the summer months. That's love!!!

I have Oak leaf Hydrangeas in the front yard that has done well with morning sun, It doesn't like the hot sun. I now have about a doz new one coming up under the big one. They do well even with a hard long winters here in New England

Have two large ones on the west side of the house, each corner, been there for at least 20 years, doing very well, yes mostly shade.
