I was but a youth not yet dry behind the ears during the worst drought in Missouri history. 1953: Driest year on record. Missouri Climate Center

The lake that supplied the municipal water to Springfield (McDaniel Lake) almost dried up and I could not go fishing there. Wells did dry up, including our family's. We had to haul water from a local school that had a very deep well, deepest and best in the area. We survived as did others.

The drought passed but I still remember the worst drought in the history of Missouri.
Well getting to I guess New Climate Change because it is getting far worse than '53.

I posted somewhere else. Mennonites bought a Tractor Trailer load of Hay in Colorado. The Truck stopped in Kansas and someone offered 3X the price the Mennonites were paying the Hay never left Kansas.

I don't remember all the trees dying in '53 but they are now. There is acres of Trees dying.

Rain is crazy some places they are saying there is a Drought and they have had rain.

Yes I know in a few years things will turn around but for now it is bad.

Its not missing you by much .
Yes I watch Radar and laugh. I was talking with our Pastor this morning and he was looking at the clouds. I told him yes it looks good but it isn't going to rain.

We have had rain heading right for us a quit.

Trees leaves are turning brown and falling off.

Oh I might add Springfield has had much more rain than us but they are talking about drought.

And yes they get water now from Stockton and Fellows Lakes.

We are getting from a County Well but now Bennett Springs is also drawing off this well because they can't get water.

We are one small area and I have been called a liar because it will rain 7 miles from here.

Yes, my relatives in Springfield could not even plant a garden this spring because it was so wet.

I watched the construction of Fellows Lake, fished it often as a kid, lost my virginity o_O on its shores.

Oh I fished Fellows once. Got a Cabin just South of Warsaw on Truman Lake.

Remember Mom saying they was building a Lake in her Backyard called Stockton Lake.

I owned a Farm by Wheatland. Hunted and Fished there.

My Son said I was crazy after killing a big Wild Hog.

I hired out and Farmed Lilly Dale West of Springfield. .75 an hour.

Just talked to a Farmer. He said he messed up big time.

He usually sells his first cutting of Hay and has good pasture until late July.

Well he sold his first cutting. Isn't going to get a second cutting and has no Hay.

Would that be people, trees or squirrels?
Oh stupid Squirrels. Got one old Boar and one old Sow.

Then look out 5 more out there.

I have never had Squirrels eat my Cabbage until now.

Deer eating my Strawberries again. Irish Spring Soap.

Thinking about getting a load of Mulch.

My wife said one guy is putting Sand down in his garden but I don't think it will work.

Well don't know.

According to our Rain Gages we got 2.5 inches of rain but it was all at once. So yes we got it but? Seems we are going to get rain regular.

Lost bunch of Chickens yesterday because of the heat. Was going to butcher them Friday. So rethinking raising Chickens to butcher.

My Son found Cheap Hay for $80 a bale. Drove to general vicinity. Called to get directions and the guy had sold it.

So my Son called around and found some cheap Hay for $90 a bale didn't let it out of sight. Got 60 bales.

Like he said maybe they will get another cutting. Farmers were counting on pasture but its came to feeding year round.

I know use to when it would get hot I would feed in the Timber because the cows wouldn't leave it.

Normal price for Hay now is $125 a Bale.
