Need some ideas for a smallish size tree

Gah every week when I mow, I see this big ugly dead spot in my front yard. I know I already asked this but any ideas where to go to look for these trees? I really don't even know where to begin. I haven't seen any trees at Lowes yet, thats my only guess.

Try an independent retail nursery. Many of them can get trees from wholesale growers for special orders.

What variety of Avocado is it? Most of them are large trees.

Hass- got a 3 footer for 50% off, it's about 5' now after about 1.5 years, seems to be growing wider than taller right now.



The bloodgood seems to really like being under the partial shade provided by the big oak, it's more than doubled in size.

I hope you gave the Avocado plenty of room. It gets 20+ feet wide and 30' tall.

Only gave it about 15' after visiting two local grow operations, one private, one a non-profit-- they said they've had better results keeping trees smaller and planting them closer together. We'll see-- this one may fruit next year but it'll be many years before it (hopefully) gets really big.
