I don't mind my first name, maybe not be my choice, I know full well that there are worse out there.
Our sons were given an 'English' first name and then a middle name from hubs country. Years ago we weren't sure where we would definitely settle , so at least they had a name that could've been use if we had gone to live in hubs homeland (y)

I don't think your children will have difficulty integrating. My friend who's black was very annoyed when she first lived here. This is an area where Monday club (some conservative area!) was very active. In fact, last election saw far -right National Front and BNP voted in. My son kept saying to me that I need to colour or bleach my skin and the Caucasians can be very nasty to me! True. I just wouldn't let them spoil my day! Of course, not all whites are like that. One lady was very nice and always asks after my son, knowing my son had some difficulty in the primary school the end of her road.

Try finding names for children when you are a teacher. Almost every name we came up with had connotations. In the end we chose fairly standard names, but ones which we did not associate with less than pleasant children.

I reckon James, Richard, Oliver, Christopher, Daniel ??? I bet you hiccupped saying some names! LOL!

Just try registering children for kindergarten! I've encountered Savannahs, Cherokees, Aspins (yes, that was the way one mother spelled her daughter's name), D'Andrews, D'amores, but no D'nieces. The most memorable was Phoelixia (pronounced, but not spelled, Felicia). Some kids are 10 or 12 before they can spell their own first name!
:LOL::LOL::ROFLMAO: That's a tricky Phoel cluster! I saw on a board outside a school with pupils' names. I reckon they were from Poland, Latvia, Russia, Estonia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and what not. None of them could be pronounced using the English pronunciation rules!

Now we have Grease. I bet not a lot of girls are called Fanny!:ROFLMAO:

Oh you all have no idea the depths people go to here in naming children. It is a crime some of the names given to children.

(y):D

It's like Bear Payne and every time I read the name, I cringe and feel sorry for the bairn. It's invariably a combination of depth, flippancy and a desperate search for uniqueness. Axle is another stupid name. But Grease is a bit unpleasant.

Oh that is nothing. About 12 years ago now I took a shift at LSU medical center, the charity medical center. Everyone in the place was talking about this mom had named her son. The spelling is Shithead, but used some out of this world way to say it. People are always going to look at the spelling, and kids are just going to be brutal. Felt for the kid, wrong thing to do to something innocent.

I have always felt, a kid needs to be able to spell their own name by the age 3,..4 tops. Kid wanders off in a store, he can not tell an adult who he/she is with some crazy name.

:LOL:! It's like some headteacher describing a French teacher using the beginning of each sentence to spell W**k**! The latter complain and the headteacher had to apologise! Agree with you about the latter.
