Very nice Zenji and alp plenty of colour mine looks rather drab . Shame about the pigeon poor thing at least you tried .

Its been like summer the past two days  , not done much in my own garden more in next doors I've been making a brick border for a acer garnet , I were going to plant it and saw a brick at the bottom so pulled that out and another brick and the hole filled up with water, dug out more hoping it will drain away , I took out the water and it just fills back up coming from the bottom of the hole , the hole about 3ft deep at this point so had to abandon it . Tried another hole and the same thing happened again very frustrating .

The weather changing its saying minus 3  for next week . It seemed like we've gone from winter straight to summer and now back to winter again .

Two older pictures of snowdrops 7th March , the snowdrops finished last week .

Zenj: The last daff is so pretty and different. You have some lovely flowers and the photo quality is lovely. Just hope you capture more of them and more often. Flowers change so much with a day or two.

Perki: Rip van wickle daffs are nice and I had one flowering in the wrong place it's no longer flowering. Perki: That snowdrop is a Greatorex, very pretty double - could be a Desdemona, Hippolyta, Dionysus or Nerisa, named after Shakespearan character. ... and the hellebores are beautiful.

This is supposed to be Primavera from Prins. And I planted it with the group of yellow and white stuff. Look at what I have got now. Probably another Bowl of Beauty.

Now that explains why I have bought so many Trumpet daffs! The front of the packet bore no relation to the content!

Received a Salvia Leucantha and a Dombeyi and there must be a ream of FRAGILE tape used. There were 2 pots and 8 foot of bubble wraps. I was too scared to remove the soil to look at the roots. I didn't think there were proper roots. No roots sticking out of any of the 2 pots. And there were 2 branches (droopy and limp) on each. The seller wrote the date 11.2.21 on one label. Do you think roots will grow that quickly under 6 weeks? I went back to the seller platform to have a look. All sold out and the seller got 100% feedback.

This dip in temperatures is annoying. I have things that I want to plant out and now it's on hold. There are young dahlias out. I am lost for words, which is rare!

Early in the morning, we went to buy sharp sand, ballast, and cement to build the base of the greenhouse. Cost me £60, but cement cost £3.60 rather than £4.20 so that place is rather reasonable. I told the Shik (he had a turban) that I would like to buy some slabs or flagstones. He quoted £16 per sq m, so I was pretty happy. However, he said they might not come until 3 or 4 weeks' time. He only got his cement yesterday. Apparently, everybody else is building in his/her garden.

Helper came about 11 and by 3 pm, the base was more or less finished. As soon as it was finished, some idiot graffitted on it! ;)

Love the nectary of this hellebore, another new one this year! Amazing how many configurations hellebores have - colour, markings, shapes, and .. they are so similar and yet so different.

Cold, but a glorious day! Yesterday was for sowing flowers. Today, I'm going to buy some melons to eat and then plant the seeds and also hunt for some lamb, chicken and pork chops ..

Good morning, folks!

Spent money AGAIN! (Well, I don't care as I am 64! LOL!). Some more Trilliums which I might have to grow under my bed as I am running out of space! I blame this! Anglian Bulbs are so reasonable! Shame the elusive T Chloropetalum Giganteum was not available!

@Diana77

What are your favorite flowers please? And what is blooming in your garden please?

Hi @alp ,

I don't have a garden. I live in a second floor apartment and I have a balcony. I have nothing growing there yet. I joined this site because I want to brighten up my balcony with flowers and a few herbs. I'm looking to start with lemongrass and lavender to hopefully keep gnats and mosquitos away. I also want to grow basil, a tomato plant and whatever flowers will tolerate a lot of shade. My favorite flowers are roses, tulips. and cherry blossoms.

@Diana77 : Great that you talked about lemongrass as I have one which is about 2 years old. Bought reduced and stil going strong. It has been in the shadier bit of my lean to or conservatory. I need to change the soil and harvest the one that I have. I have bought basil as I have some Italian dishes which I like to add the aroma to. Somehow, I am no very good at keeping them alive. Tulips loves heat and sun. if you get a spot for that, they will thrive.

See how cold it's going to be. I hope they won't kill the plants I have already planted out. No new exciting plants in the allotment. Came home with land cress and whilst weeding, I asked myself: How come Ben next door has no weed?I realised that he had a line of thick and luxuriant rhubarbs flanked by woodchips, so I had the epiphany that I should do the same. Weed and cover. Son went and wheeled 5 rounds of wood chips and we covered the weeded area and I left pretty chuffed as I knew if I didn'tdo it, we would have to weed the new weeds next time we came.

Went to shops and there was not a leg of lamb in sight. All gone.

I wish I had your temperatures forecast had a light frost this morning, I think I'll be shipping plants I've took out of the GHosue back into it , I'll be going round trying to cover up various plants Dicentra are prone to slump in cold temperatures , I can't cover everything up though . I suppose with it being a late spring here not too much has soft lush green growth .

I pricked out my tomatoes and cucumbers and some others yesterday and I mowed the lawn , I'll prick some more seedling out later when the sun due to come out and heat my GH up .

Had my bedroom ceiling plastered yesterday said I had to leave the window open and no heating to help it dry, flipping freezing when I went to bed :cold: I did close the window when I went to bed I've got some begonia and brugmansia in my room can't be having them frozen to

If you had read my postings and Zenj's, we did say that there would be a PLUNGE!

I feel sorry for you as in your part of the country, Perki, the sunshine is not strong enough to make up for the night difference. I am sweating or perspiring all over, digging out a stubborn Cistus shrub, replaced by a Salvia Amistad and one Peony Honey Gold and a Nymphe. It's baking here. With the axe swinging for half an hour, I am surprised that I am still a rotunda! LOL!

Bookmark this and you can see your weekly temperature.

And also watch this (10-day trend) -4c is really brutal. We are sunny and so the residual heat will raise our temperature a bit.

I saw 4 Tom seedlings yesterday. Today, there is none and the whole tray empty. BUT I SAW FAECES :poop::poop::poop::poop:round the pots, so I lifted the whole tray up and saw one big slug the size of my thumb with orange belly lining. :devil:o_O:cry::eek:

I sowed the blessed Tom seeds again INSIDE A SEVERED MILK BOTTLE, JUST as the Scot in the US did in Gardeners' World - with 3 lengthy repeats, AGAIN!

Yesterday was exceptionally warm. About 13c and it was good working in the garden.

1617593297819.png

Funny photos in this article.

Planted out tons of peonies as the gnats had been ravaging them indoors. Sowed some more seeds and planted out some alliums, muscaris, daffs, and tulips.
SAM_2156.JPG

Fritillaria Imperialis Rubra - from an xL bulb and hence 2 stems. Today, audit of the sowing results and might have to re-sow quite a few.

Have a nice day.
