Our pre decimal money started at a Farthing or quarter penny, 2 Farthings made a Ha'penny or Half d, 2 Ha'pennies made a Penny. 3 Pennies made a 3d or Thrupenny bit, 2 Thrupenny bits made a Tanner or 6d. 2 Tanners made a Shilling or Bob, 2 Shillings made a Florin or 2/- bob bit. A Florin and a Tanner made a Half Crown, 2 Half Crowns made a Dollar or Crown. 4 Crowns made a Pound or 244 Pennies.

A pound and a Shilling made a Guinea.

We resisted decimalisation for ages because we thought it would be too complex

I had to google the word "decimalisation", google translator didn't know how to translate it, but I found out that it means "the act of changing to a decimal system" :p
It's so complicated! If I had to use pre decimal money, I would probably spend most of my time at a store, counting:p

:D Yep, still remember the day back in february 1971, there were information programs on telly for months before we changed over.

It's funny, but growing up with the old system, it didn't seem complicated.
