I agree. It feels like a waste of time and money. A good organic feed for the roots to take up does the job just fine
I agreed with what she said. I only have anecdotal evidence from the year I tried it with half of my garden and they half that received fertilizer at the roots grew noticeably more.

She had an interesting interview on the joe gardener podcast about myths if you want to check it out. Episode 34,35 and 36.

What do you think about foliar feeding. I was listening to Dr Linda Chalker Scott and she said that the science doesn't support foliar feeding as an effective way to fertilize plants. In fact she said it was a waste of money.
A waste of money. Roots are what makes a plant grow. Leaves are what changes sunlight into food and the food made by the leaves goes to the roots which in turn make more leaves. But to be fair leaves can absorb small amounts of N and K with the exception of phosphorus which can be much greater. For some reason the more phosphorus absorbed by the roots enables more phosphorus to be absorbed by the leaves and when this happens the new growth is severely affected, the leaves are small and many times distorted and the new stems are weak and spindly. So, if a plant does not need phosphorus using a NPK fertilizer as a foliar can be very damaging to a plant.

Another waste of money can be overfeeding K because plants are capable of taking up more than can be used leaving little for later stages. Best put out a little all along.

And now that I thought about it, I should have pointed out how cool it is that K luxury uptake was found to be the doorway through which the agri-phos type systemic fungicides work, as they are a potassium salt derived from phosphoric family acids.

You should have resolved your problem by now.

Peppers don't like too much water.

Looks like you used a Jiffy Seed Starting deal.

I did to. No Grow Light in West Window.

Finally repotted and put in Greenhouse. They are in my garden blooming now.
