One thing I forgot is if you’re going the ‘nuke it’ route, when you have it at the point of ‘now it’s time to spread seeds’, don’t. Instead, water well and wait for weeds to sprout and spray with glyphosate. You will find every weed you’ve ever dealt with sprouting. Do this 2 more times without disturbing the dead weeds. Then mow as low as you can go and spread seeds in the dead weeds. If you disturb the dead weeds by tilling, you will bring more seeds to the surface that will compete with the new lawn.
