@Esther Knapicius, yes of course it is a question of climate, but this particular climate is a marine tropical climate and the temps do not fluctuate much where i am. The humidity also doesn't fluctuate much either. It is always high, like between 50 & 80%

. We all sweat a lot, but i don't notice it so much because of the ocean breezes. I planted poppies the other day. The plants seem to love it. Still, in any climate i don't think i would have indoor plants because i would feel sorry for them being inside all the time, although given the right conditions i am sure they don't mind. My Mother, on the southern Oregon coast. grew a coffee tree in her house in a big pot. It just grew and grew and a happier tree you never did see.

@Beverly , my indoor plants are not "inside all the time" . they go out to the deck or other areas of the garden after May 13, and are brought inside before Oct. 30 or the first frost. if not brought in the frost would kill them. So not to be sorry about them at all. they have a nice life.

@Esther Knapicius o yes your plants are happy and most certainly humanely treated:LOL: so i am not sorry for them. It is the ones that are always inside and never get to go out that i feel sorry for even though i know they can be happy plants too.

I may be repeating myself here.

We've a mixture.

Real and artificial.

Real.

6 Orchids. Plus three "resting" on a kitchen window sill

2 Hanging baskets...well ceramic pots.... I drilled three holes in each and suspended them on chains from hooks in the first floor ceiling.

That took some doin,g as it was when we were about to have a new carpet. I took the floorboards up and screwed two "noggings" between joists, so I had something to screw the hooks into rather than just plasterboard.

The £5 bunch of roses I buy my wife every week probably don't count.

40 house plants in my indoor fluorescent light garden, and one cat.

OH, and my indoor vegetable garden, I'm growing two different types of Basil, Genovese and Sweet basil. The Genovese has a very strong smell of Basil and only takes 1/4 the amount. Vietnamese love this basil in their restaurants in their Pho and so do I.

Ruffly about 6, but have had a few more in the past. Some get on my nerves, so I let them die in the winter. Some I stand over and say "die already, just die. There are two right now, that they could die, I'd be happy.
