Using a harvesting knife, the blades are cut slightly above the stem. The cuttings are then inserted into a masticating juicer (a manual juicer extracts more juice and usually generates less heat as it can 'chew' the grass slower than an electric juicer).

To extract more juice and preserve the nutrients, it is better to turn the handle slowly while gently using the pusher. It should be turned in both directions a few times so that grass does not get jammed in the juicer, and as much juice is extracted as possible.
