I am so glad to see so many people enjoying their gardens. I live in an urban area now, and everyone gives me funny looks when I talked passionately about gardening. It is so nice to see people with similar experience and feelings towards as I. @Kansas Terri I won't lie that made me laugh, at least you get a little bit of a break.

My husband had his knee replaced yesterday, and I have been considering ripping out last year's dead plants in the vegetable garden.

So, it would appear that gardening is stress relief even WITHOUT the kids, because it is still COLD outside! LOL! I do not think that gardening in the cold would be tempting unless I were under stress!

Ah, well. He will be home in a few days time. The surgeon said it went VERY well, and it will be good if the dear man's knees no longer hurt him: he has been limping for about a year, now.

I garden because I like to see the plants grow and to help with the stress. I find when I am up set with some one the weeds get pulled or the debris that needs to be cleaned up task goes by very quickly. Gardening is also my way of communing with nature.

If you like gardening then that can keep you busy hence avoiding those stressful moments, but if you are forced into gardening then you will raising your stress levels. You can do a lot of things in your garden to keep yourself busy. You can go weed your crops or plant new crops. You can consider repairing your fence. You also consider planting new flowers.

My mom would always work in her garden in the spring and summer to relieve her stress. I am going to be creating an indoor garden with grow lights, just some basics, like eggplant, tomatoes, carrots, onions and green peppers. There is just enough space to do it, and I am going all out. Stress relief, yes. I find working in the dirt and nature to be the most relieving activity. It's like an art in a way, getting you directly in touch with nature and "growing things" lol. It's a part of life gardening that should not be missed. It brings you directly in contact with where we came from, that's my opinion. A connection to the divine!

Gardening involves working with the hands which is a way of alleviating stress. The greenery and the blooming flowers in my butternut garden resembles a little Eden in its own small way. Gardening makes of one with nature in a tranquil environment which momentarily sedates my senses from the hustle and bustle, heartaches and the cares of life.

Fresh air, greenery, buzzing bees, chirping birds, sunshine, blue sky...what could go wrong? You mothered these little seedlings and put them in the ground and just wait for things to grow....what could go wrong?

Gardening is a great stress reliever for me. There's just something magical about being outside and creating something that you know will grow and thrive into delicious healthy foods and gorgeous plants and flowers. It just lifts my spirits knowing that I am helping provide for my family by doing something I truly enjoy.

I agree! Gardening really is a stress reliever. It fills me with so much joy looking at my plants that are starting to grow and I can't wait for some of them to bear fruit. :)
