Does anyone here grow eggplant ?

I grow Japanese eggplant and Black Beauty. I've never had an issue with bugs destroying the plants. I have to agree with @Fernsdaddy about having healthy soil, equals less problems. I also believe in giving my plants a nice dose of compost tea too. I've noticed that the plants that are receive compost tea are bigger, and healthier than plants that don't receive compost tea.

We have some eggplants in the extended garden. It is not that easy to grow but it's not difficult either. All it needs is regular irrigation and cleaning of weeds plus protection from pests. Before planting, we just scour the soil for undesirable materials like stones. Fertilizer is given when the eggplant is already 6 inches tall. But our fertilzer is the water used to rinse fish and meat in the kitchen. That is aside from the compost that we have.
